Eric Miller, PMHNP

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
525 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO
As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my background spans decades in high-intensity environments, including service as a critical-care helicopter and fixed-wing flight nurse/paramedic, an officer in the United States Air Force Reserves, and an entrepreneur. My career has been shaped in spaces where calm leadership, accountability, and compassion are essential—not optional. I work with adults and adolescents, including first responders, veterans, entrepreneurs and individuals navigating complex or generational trauma. I am trained in EMDR and use a trauma-informed approach to help clients process difficult experiences while reconnecting with clarity, resilience, and direction. I also have training in psychedelic- assisted therapies, with a focused interest in ketamine-assisted therapy and psilocybin-assisted approaches, and I am a licensed facilitator-in-training in the State of Colorado. I am a husband and father of five, including two children with special needs (one visually impaired and one neurodivergent), and a grandfather of two. My wife is a trauma-informed yoga teacher specializing in complex trauma, and our shared perspective reflects a deep respect for both the psychological and physiological aspects of healing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is collaborative, direct, and goal-oriented. I will meet you where you are, but I will also challenge you when needed. Meaningful change requires willingness—an openness to look honestly at patterns, to tolerate some discomfort, and to take an active role in the process. You don’t have to have it all figured out, but you do have to be open to change. I provide trauma-informed therapy alongside thoughtful medication management when appropriate, always aiming for the minimal effective dose and simplifying medications whenever possible to support your overall quality of life. Medication can be a useful tool, but it is not the endpoint—real, lasting change comes from the work we do in therapy. My work centers on trauma processing and integrating cognitive and behavioral strategies to help you build resilience, regulate stress, and move forward with greater confidence. My experience in military, disaster, and emergency medicine settings allows me to connect with high performers, first responders, and those who are used to carrying more than others can see.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Within the first 15–20 minutes, we’ll have a good sense of whether this is the right fit. Our initial session focuses on understanding your story, identifying your strengths, and clarifying your goals —and what you’re willing to do to get there. From that, we’ll build a clear, practical path forward that may include therapy, medication management, or alternative approaches aligned with your goals. This is a judgment-free space—but it is also a space for honesty, growth, and accountability. You’re invited to come as you are, and together, we’ll do the work to help you move forward.
