About Dr. Erica Sneider
Erica Sneider, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon who specializes in robotic and minimally invasive colorectal surgery. She is also board certified in general surgery but has chosen to limit her practice exclusively to colon and rectal surgery.
Dr. Sneider grew up on Long Island but left to attend Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. While at Mount Holyoke, she was a competitive swimmer on the varsity swim team and received numerous accolades, including the Noll Newcomer of the Year Award, which is annually awarded to the best freshman swimmer on the varsity team. She graduated Cum Laude from Mount Holyoke College in 2002 with a BA in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Upon graduation, Dr. Sneider moved to Washington, D.C., where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine in 2006.
She completed her internship and residency in General Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center from 2006 to 2013. During her residency, Dr. Sneider spent two years in a vascular basic science laboratory studying hindlimb ischemia in a mouse model. She also served as captain of the Minimally Invasive Surgical Skills team, which competed in the Top Gun Competition at the Massachusetts Chapter Meeting for the American College of Surgeons. In 2012, during her fourth year of residency, Dr. Sneider participated in a surgical mission trip to Limbe, Haiti, where she spent a week at Hospital Bon Samaritan evaluating patients and performing surgeries ranging from inguinal hernia repair and breast surgery to major abdominal operations, including an appendectomy for a pediatric patient with perforated appendicitis.
Following residency, Dr. Sneider completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center, further honing her expertise in this specialized field.
