Getting to know Erica Wait

PLEASE NOTE: I AM UNABLE TO PRESCRIBE STIMULANT MEDICATIONS. HOWEVER, I CAN PRESCRIBE OTHER CONTROLLED MEDICATIONS IN TEXAS. I am an APRN, PMHNP-BC specializing in psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. I treat ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression (including treatment-resistant depression), OCD, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and behavioral concerns such as oppositional behaviors and attachment disorders in youth. My training includes specialized experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, adoption-related family dynamics, and attachment-focused care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a collaborative, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach to care. You can expect a structured but supportive environment where I focus on understanding the whole person, not just symptoms. I prioritize clear education around diagnoses and treatment options so you feel informed and actively involved in your care. I also bring personal experience as a parent of adopted children, which deepens my understanding of family-centered and compassionate care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start with a comprehensive 60-minute evaluation where I review your symptoms, personal history, medical background, and relevant social factors. I use evidence-based screening tools and may recommend lab work when appropriate to rule out medical contributors. Together, we develop an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, therapy recommendations, and lifestyle interventions. Follow-ups are scheduled based on clinical needs, with closer monitoring early in treatment and adjustments as you progress. I also coordinate care with therapists or other providers when needed to ensure continuity and support.
