Erin Cabe, LMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist
TN
I'm so happy you are here! My name is Erin, and as a licensed marriage and family therapist, I believe that while most our our pain happens in relationships, healing often is found through safe relationships, whether that be with family, friends, partners, a therapeutic relationship, or a healed relationship with ourself. I received my masters in marriage in family therapy from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN in 2023, and received my independent license two years later. I have experience working in a variety of settings that has given me the privilege of working with different clients. I work in private practice independently and for a intensive out patient program, which is a step above weekly outpatient therapy, but below inpatient hospitalization. If you are tired of feeling stuck, like too much and simultaneously not enough, and ready to invest in yourself. I'd encourage you to book a session!

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a trauma-informed therapist, I use a combination of powerful, evidence-based therapy models to help you heal. My primary approaches are: Internal Family Systems (IFS): A gentle, compassionate way to get to know the different parts of yourself, healing internal conflicts and fostering self-leadership. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): A structured therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. A Systems-Based Lens: This approach recognizes that we don't exist in a vacuum. We'll look at the bigger picture—exploring how your family dynamics, relationships, and environment influence your well-being. Understanding these connections helps us see why certain patterns exist and how to create healthier ones. While these models provide the foundation, our sessions are built on genuine human connection. I believe in the power of empathy and humor to create a space where you feel truly seen and understood.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session together will allow us to get to know one another. My ultimate goal during the first session is for you to leave feeling a little more hopeful and to feel seen. We will take time for me to understand your mental and physical health history and current state, establish goals and a plan on how we are going to get there. I like to say that a goal without a plan is just a wish; so we will make a plan to go with your goals during that first session so that we are not just making wishes!
