Erin Mcdevitt, CRNP

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
PA
Hello, and welcome. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care that supports the whole person. My approach focuses on the connection between mental and physical health, helping patients better understand how emotional well-being, medical conditions, lifestyle, and overall wellness work together in treatment and recovery. I completed my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner education at Maryville University and also hold a Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Millersville University. In addition to my psychiatric training, I bring more than 10 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner working in emergency room and urgent care settings. This medical background allows me to offer a broader understanding of how physical health conditions, stress, sleep, chronic illness, and other medical factors can impact mental health. I also have experience working in outpatient addiction treatment facilities, supporting individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. My background in emergency and urgent care medicine has also given me valuable insight into the unique stressors faced by healthcare professionals and first responders, allowing me to provide informed, compassionate support to individuals working in high-demand environments.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My treatment approach is collaborative and individualized, with a focus on helping patients improve their quality of life through medication management, education, supportive therapy, and practical wellness strategies. Areas of interest include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, stress and burnout, trauma-related concerns, addiction and recovery support, and integrating mental and physical wellness into care. I incorporate evidence-based techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI), into our visits when appropriate. While these approaches support treatment, I do not provide dedicated psychotherapy sessions. I believe meaningful mental health care starts with listening, building trust, and treating each patient with compassion and respect.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your first session, my goal is to create a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns and experiences. This initial visit is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your goals, and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. Together, we will review your mental health history, current challenges, lifestyle factors, and any medical concerns that may be impacting your overall well-being. I believe treatment works best as a collaborative process, and I want you to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your care. By the end of the session, we will begin identifying your individual needs and discussing a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, coping strategies, and wellness-focused approaches to help you move toward improved mental and emotional health.
