About Ernest Eckenrode

Ernie provides care to patients of all ages, and encourages them to talk about their concerns, and what they would like to accomplish. He uses those discussions, along with their physical exam and medical history, to create customized treatment plans to help them achieve their best possible results. Ernie is certified through the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Washington College in Chestertown, MD. He then went on to earn his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Towson University, Towson, MD. Ernie is credentialed to diagnose and treat dermatologic conditions and to perform various procedures such as shave and punch biopsies, excisions of basal and squamous cell carcinomas, moderately atypical nevi (moles) and cysts. He is dedicated not only to skin cancer diagnosis but also to awareness and prevention. He helps his patients understand the importance of annual Total-Body Skin Cancer Exams in detecting skin cancer early, when it's most treatable. Ernie is proud to help build his practice on a strong foundation of knowledge, expertise, and the desire to serve and care for others.

I am an African American woman, the doctor I saw was Caucasian. I came due to hair breakage. As soon as he entered the room, he sat down and gave me a diagnosis. After talking and questioning how he was able to determine that, finally looked at my scalp but My hair was in a ponytail, when I asked him if I should take my hair down, he said no. He did not even look at the my entire scalp. He told me breakage is from wearing braids all of the time, I have locs.
