An accomplished nurse practitioner, Ernest Keyaka, NP, PMHNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, plays an integral role at E&B Behavioral and Medical Clinic LLC in Silver Spring, Maryland. With a passion for personalized care, Ernest loves working one-on-one with patients to help them improve their health and wellness.
Expanding and enriching his educational experience has always been important to Ernest. He entered nursing as a licensed practical nurse through Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida, and then earned his associate’s degree in nursing from Excelsior College in Albany, New York.
Ernest then completed a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Phoenix University in Fairfax, Ohio, before earning his Master of Science in Nursing at Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also holds a certificate in psychiatric mental health from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Through nearly two decades of nursing practice, Ernest has amassed an impressive body of skills. His roles include work with disability and chronic illness care, geriatric medicine, hospice care, and psychiatric care and support.
Ernest finds his work deeply rewarding and especially enjoys helping patients find ways to make meaningful lifestyle improvements that improve their quality of life. As part of the E&B Behavioral and Medical Clinic LLC team, he feels a strong responsibility to empower those in his community to take an active role in shaping their health destinies.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Ernest is an NP who has spent more than a decade providing bedside psychiatric mental health services to patients in multiple settings. This makes his role more of a caring than the traditional “diagnosis and treatment”. Ernest incorporates his bedside ethics that focuses on wellness and counselling to provide the best patient focus patient centered care to his patients. He counsels patients about the importance of making needed lifestyle choices and making sure to approach patients as individuals.
Ernest is an excellent listener, spending more time with his patients leading to better understanding of their specific circumstances. Ernest focuses on establishing good communication with the patients and other providers, making the patient-NP relationship that of a long-term partnership.

Ernest is a phenomenal therapist/psychiatrist. He is patient, kind and have the knowledge that will help you cope with your daily struggles. He provides assignments for you to work on prior to your next meeting. He also follows up if he has not heard from you.
