“My visit with Dr. Podolak, was an opportunity to think differently about myself and manage the daily challenges with peace and gratitude. The cognitive therapy practices and connecting in the moment makes me feel alive and grounded. Dr. Podolak is a very wise listener. He speaks with compassion and motivates me to take all that we accomplish in our visits into every aspect of my life. He is a rare teacher who inspires me to be independent in my commitment to our work. Dr. Podolak cares about the gift of giving me valuable insight to know when I’m making choices that liberate me from the fear involved. Every visit with Dr. Podolak is alive with hope and inspiration to help myself through some very difficult times. I believe in this work and have been a living testimony of many transformations out of the tunnel vision and finding the light along the way. I’ve worked with many therapists throughout my lifetime and I was stuck in an interpersonal loop of repeating my life story only to be unconsciously staying stuck in the past. The mindful practice is now an awareness with my awareness with every task, movement, meaningful goals and taking action…Not just words or wishes I’m honored to be fully present and alive working with Dr. Podolak. When I see a person suffering with anxiety, depression and hopelessness, passing on his name is on auto pilot. I encourage anyone who has tried too many avenues of therapy to think about all the time and efforts they’ve made with countless therapists that leave them helpless in their suffering. Every visit with Dr. Podolak is a welcomed adventure and discovery. I’ve come to believe that what i think I can’t handle is that which makes me stronger for it. ”

Getting to know Dr. Evan Podolak

I am a private practice psychologist serving clients in and around Mamaroneck, New York, as well as online as needed. I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University and a Master's in Forensic Psychology from the City University of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice. As your therapist, it is my priority to create a therapeutic atmosphere that promotes growth and positive change for you. I look forward to working with you to address your challenges and realize your goals. Therapy is a process that can move you toward being the healthiest version of yourself and living the life you desire. I use a variety of approaches to address my clients' unique needs. Many successful treatment plans begin with a foundation of cognitive/cognitive-behavioral therapy and then quickly move toward a tailored approach that includes tools to help sustain the growth experienced in regular therapy. Additionally, there is a growing body of research supporting the practice of self-compassion and mindfulness in psychotherapy. Neuroscience research reveals that individuals who practice these techniques are happier, more resilient, and better equipped to heal painful memories from the past. It is my honor and mission to help my clients move past what's blocking them from reaching their full potential, both individually and in their relationships.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have a collaborative approach to psychotherapy. This will initially involve asking questions to get to know you and why you are coming to therapy at this time. I use a cognitive behavioral approach to psychotherapy. By helping you examine, be curious about and make small changes in the way you think about different life situations, you will be able to develop new coping skills, have less painful emotional reactions, and have a generally more positive outlook.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session will start with a check-in and agenda setting. We will discuss what happened during the past week and follow up on any material from the previous session. We will use scenarios that you identify, between-session assignments, and in-session discussions to examine thought patterns and beliefs that may be getting in the way of your flourishing. Using psychoeducation, questioning, brainstorming, and other cognitive and behavioral techniques I will help you make small changes in thinking to have a more positive experience.
