What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note: I do not accept EAP programs. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I specialize in helping adults navigate mental health challenges through expert, personalized medication management. My practice combines clinical knowledge with a genuine desire to know you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms. Your mental health is closely connected to your work, relationships, physical health, and daily routines, and your care should reflect that. Our first visit is thorough by design, because understanding your experience is the foundation for helping you effectively. I'll ask about your current symptoms, including when they began, what eases or intensifies them, and how they affect your ability to function day to day. We'll also review your treatment history, medical background, and the goals you hope to reach. This helps us build a plan that fits your needs from the very start. I prioritize clear, honest communication. As we explore medication options, I'll explain how each one works, what the research shows, what improvement to expect and when, and which side effects to watch for. My prescribing approach is evidence-based and tailored to you. I typically begin with well-established first-line treatments, monitor your response closely, and adjust based on your feedback and my clinical observations. I also use standardized assessment tools to track your symptoms over time, pairing objective measures with your lived experience to guide every decision. If questions arise or anything changes between visits, please reach out. Effective medication management depends on ongoing, open dialogue. When helpful, I coordinate with your other providers so your care stays connected and consistent. No concern is too small, and your perspective matters at every stage. Whether you're seeking care for the first time or transitioning from another provider, I'll meet you where you are with patience and compassion.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note that I do not accept EAP benefits. Our first visit is a conversation, not an interrogation. I set aside a full 60 minutes for new patient evaluations, because your mental health deserves time and thoughtful attention, and rushing serves no one. We'll start with whatever feels most urgent to you right now, then carefully review your history, previous treatment, current medications, relevant medical conditions, alcohol or substance use, family mental health history, and your social and living circumstances. I'll also ask about key areas like your sleep, appetite, energy level, and how your mood changes throughout the day. Next, we'll decide together whether medication may help and explore options that fit your particular symptoms, your preferences, and your lifestyle. I explain everything in plain language and welcome your questions at any time. Starting a medication is always a shared decision we make as equal partners. Once your treatment is stable, follow-up medication management appointments generally last 20 to 30 minutes and occur roughly once a month. In these sessions, we'll talk about what's improving, what's still challenging, and whether any adjustments to your plan are needed. I'll check in about side effects and how well your medication fits into your everyday life. Between visits, you're always welcome to contact my office with concerns, because I want you to feel fully supported throughout your care. Everyone responds to treatment differently, and I'm committed to finding an approach that honors who you are while helping you feel truly better. Setbacks are a natural part of the healing process, not a sign of failure, and we'll work through them together while celebrating every bit of progress along the way. I see our relationship as a genuine, ongoing partnership grounded in trust and mutual respect, and it is an honor to support you on your path toward greater well-being.
