Getting to know Fabian Escobar

As a board-certified PMHNP, I specialize in treating a wide range of mental health concerns with evidence-based, patient-centered care. I take pride in offering bilingual, judgment-free care to adults and adolescents via virtual appointments. With roots in El Paso, Texas, I understand the deep importance of cultural sensitivity, trust, and family values in mental health treatment. My goal is to make every patient feel safe, heard, and empowered — whether we're working through past trauma, adjusting medications, or simply checking in.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note, at this time Escobar Wellness and Psychiatry is unable to prescribe Schedule-2 medications outside of the state of Texas. While we have the expertise to care for all visits types we are unable to prescribe schedule II medications such as Adderall. When you meet with me, my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel comfortable sharing your story. I see each person as the expert of their own life, and my role is to partner with you, provide clinical expertise, and work collaboratively to help you reach your goals. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and conversational. I value authenticity—I will always be honest with you, and I encourage you to do the same with me. At the same time, I bring structure and clinical guidance to sessions so that we are not just talking, but actively moving toward growth and healing. I use an integrative approach, tailoring care to your unique needs. This often includes elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (helping you identify and change unhelpful thoughts and patterns), supportive therapy (creating space to process and be heard), and solution-focused strategies (identifying practical steps forward). Because I am also trained in psychiatric medication management, I can discuss whether medication may be helpful for your situation and provide careful monitoring when it is part of your treatment plan. You can expect that I will listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and provide feedback. I may suggest tools such as journaling, mindfulness, or lifestyle adjustments to support progress between visits. I also welcome your input—therapy and treatment are most effective when you feel empowered and involved in the process. Ultimately, I see therapy as a collaborative journey. My hope is that you leave each session feeling understood, supported, and with a clearer path forward. Growth can take time, but you will not be walking it alone—I’ll be right there with you, every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When beginning care with me, our first session is usually focused on getting to know you and understanding your story. I will ask about your current concerns, your medical and mental health history, medications you’ve tried in the past, and what you hope to achieve through treatment. This initial evaluation allows me to gather a full picture so that we can create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. After the first visit, our sessions typically include a mix of check-ins, symptom review, and supportive conversation. If medication is part of your care, I will carefully explain your options, answer your questions, and monitor how you are responding over time. I take a collaborative approach—you will always have a voice in your treatment decisions. For clients who are interested, I also integrate talk therapy into our sessions. This may include exploring thought patterns, developing coping strategies, or addressing stress, anxiety, or relationship challenges. I believe medication and therapy can complement each other, and I provide both within the same visit when helpful. A typical follow-up session lasts about 30 minutes. We’ll discuss how you’ve been feeling since the last appointment, review progress toward your goals, and adjust the plan if needed. I may suggest practical tools such as journaling, mindfulness, or lifestyle changes to support your mental health outside of sessions. Overall, my process is structured yet flexible. I provide the medical expertise, but I also listen closely and adapt to your needs. My goal is that each session feels collaborative, supportive, and helps you move closer to stability, balance, and well-being.

More information on payments and coverage

I strive to make mental health care as accessible and transparent as possible. My fees are straightforward: the initial evaluation is $175, and follow-up visits are $85. Payment is due at the time of service, and I accept all major debit/credit cards as well as HSA/FSA cards. I am in network with several major insurance companies and am actively expanding my panel. If I accept your insurance, I will verify your coverage and bill your plan directly. You will only be responsible for any copay, coinsurance, or deductible required by your plan. If I am not currently in network with your insurance, you may choose to pay out of pocket. I can also provide you with a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you may submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits. For those paying privately, I keep my follow-up rates lower than the national average to help make ongoing care affordable. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please let me know—on a case-by-case basis I may be able to discuss reduced fees or payment options. My goal is to ensure that cost is clear up front, so you can focus on your care without surprise bills. If you have questions about insurance, payment, or coverage, I’m happy to walk you through your options before we begin.

truly a kind man. very respectable and a good listener. he really will make sure he understands you before progressing in your appointment. incredibly attentive when i was having trouble on the technical side prior to my appointment. i felt very comfortable and seen. thank you Fabian Escobar.
Great doctor! He’s really helped out a lot.
My visit was surprisingly very good. The provider reached out with the forms I needed ahead of time. It was also nice to finally have an appointment that starts at the time it says rather then checking in and waiting an hour to be seen. He was very knowledgeable, and brings a calm nature with him that made it easy to talk too.
I was nervous at first I had been seeing another Dr but their communication skills and response time was horrible as to why I wanted to see someone new . Fabian was very nice and polite and took the time to answer my questions, and when the pharmacy had a problem with my rx all I had to do was reach out and Fabian took action and really helped and I appreciated that very much…
