About Dr. Fernando Porter
An Atlanta, GA native, Fernando Porter, M.D. attended Florida A&M University where he received a bachelor’s degree. From an early age, he was always passionate about helping others, mentoring and being engaged in his community so it was inevitable that he would pursue a career that afforded him the opportunity to do both. In 2010, he earned his medical degree from Florida State University, then went on to complete his residency training in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Porter is board certified in Family Medicine and has been practicing Primary Care and Urgent Care in the DMV since 2013. In addition to being the founder of Capital City Primary and Immediate Care, he is currently serving as Medical Director of Privia Virtual Health and Life Ambulance Services based in Atlanta, GA.
Within organizations, he has held numerous leadership roles varying from Education Committee to serving as the Health Care Committee member chair for Alpha Phi Alpha, leading the effort in organizing community-wide organizations that raised awareness, offered health screenings, and provided support to those in need. Caring for the youth comes naturally for him and is especially grateful for the opportunity to mentor inner city youth in Philadelphia and serve as a judge for oratorical contests designed to raise the confidence within these children. Within DC, he continues to mentor young professionals and holds leadership positions with the DC FAMU Alumni Association. In his spare time, Dr. Porter enjoys cycling, watching sporting events, traveling, and spending time with friends, family, and his beautiful wife, DeShaun.

The office size and location are perfect. It is in a stand alone building, easy entrance and exit, ample parking, is away from the main corridor yet easily accessible. The staff was very friendly, skilled and relatable. My appointment was confirmed several times before my arrival. Dr. Porter has a great sense of humor, is direct and very specific with questions and suggestions, and was very complimentary regarding my overall health and wellness. He even complimented me to his staff. I had a very good experience. I have told friends and family he is awesome and I am grateful he was referred to me.

For once in a long time the Dr actually listened to me. He also changed my medicine where it would benefit better for me. I’ve been looking for a family Dr for the kids and I. I must say we are happy with our find. My teenage kids was highly impressed with his service as well.

I will be staying with Dr Porter as long as I can. Great person, very professional , he is a great listener and he gave me the advice I NEEDED instead of wanted. I also like the fact that Dr Porter was familiar with my fitness lifestyle as a bodybuilder which was hard to find with other doctor offices in the area.

I chose to visit Dr. Porter’s office based on reviews. Reviews are one thing and, as wonderful (and accurate) as they are, I was still quite amazed with my experience. I am impressed with how well he and his staff balance the art of being super professional and personable. It’s nice to have a doctor you can clearly see is passionate about the overall well-being of his patients. I recommend Capital City hands down!

I had my first annual physical exam in years and it was a pleasant experience thanks to Dr. Porter and the other medical staff. Check-in was prompt and easy, and I was seen just a few moments after arriving for my appointment. This was my first visit with Dr. Porter as I was looking for a new PCP. I found Dr. Porter to be very knowledgeable and highly engaging. He took a great interest in my family, medical history, and current issues I was having with herniated discs in my back. Very thorough exam and great information to help me with my back. I also received requested referrals for urologist and gastroenterologist. Will definitely be back annually and as needed.
