What should a new client know about working with you?

Choosing a mental health provider is an important step, and I strive to create a welcoming, compassionate, and judgment-free space where you feel heard and respected. My approach is collaborative, meaning we work together to understand your concerns, identify your goals, and develop a treatment plan that fits your unique needs and lifestyle. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorders, mood disorders, and other mental health concerns. I believe in treating the whole person — not just symptoms — by considering the emotional, physical, social, and lifestyle factors that influence mental wellness. That often means looking at things like sleep, nutrition, and underlying physical health alongside more traditional psychiatric care, so we can understand not just what you're experiencing, but why. My goal is to help you gain clarity, build resilience, and feel empowered in your mental health journey. Whether you're seeking care for the first time or looking for a provider who truly listens, you can expect compassionate, evidence-based care delivered with professionalism, respect, and genuine partnership. I see clients through telehealth, so care can fit into your life rather than the other way around, and I'm also glad to work with Portuguese-speaking clients in their native language. Together, we'll work toward helping you feel healthier, more balanced, and confident in achieving your personal goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation — but because I practice integrative psychiatry, this looks a little different than a standard intake. Alongside your current concerns, symptoms, and mental health history, we'll also dig into your sleep, nutrition, gut health, hormones, and lifestyle, since these physical factors are often deeply connected to how you're feeling emotionally. My goal in this first visit is to understand not just what you're experiencing, but why — so we can address root causes, not just manage symptoms. From there, we'll build an individualized treatment plan together. This may include conventional psychiatric medication when it's genuinely the right fit, but it can also include functional lab testing, nutritional and lifestyle strategies, targeted supplements, and supportive therapy — whatever combination actually serves your specific biology and goals, rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol. I'll always walk you through the reasoning behind each recommendation so you understand the "why," not just the "what." During follow-up visits, we'll track your progress closely — both how you're feeling and, where relevant, objective markers like labs — and adjust the plan as your body and symptoms respond. Healing this way can take a bit more patience than a quick prescription, but in my experience it leads to more lasting, whole-person change. I believe mental health care works best when it's collaborative and root-cause focused. My goal is for you to leave every visit feeling heard, informed, and actively part of the decision-making — supported by compassionate, evidence-based care that treats your mind and body as one connected system. All visits are conducted via telehealth for your convenience, and I'm glad to offer care in English as well as Portuguese.
