I went to Dr Hyman for a few years, but decided she was not for me. Anytime I asked about different birth control she seemed annoyed and too busy to talk about it. I’m in my mid 30s and just wanted to check my hormone levels and she was extremely annoyed asking why and that it was unnecessary. She finally said fine exasperatedly. Overall she’s just cold and always rushed through my visits. I prefer someone with better bedside manner and open to talking about my health.

My appointment was efficient and short! The receptionist was warm and kind to me while I waited (which wasn’t long). I went to the room waiting for Dr. Hyman and when she came in, she was pleasant. She can be to the point but whenever I have questions, she always answers thoroughly and makes me feel comfortable.

I went into the appointment distressed which was very obvious (tears) and was related to the reason for my visit, and she rushed me out and was very abrupt and didn't seem to want to deal with me. I was too intimidated to ask questions. Her diagnosis was correct, though. Seems like a good doctor, just not very empathetic.

Wasn’t the worse gynecologist experience ever but I do agree with a lot of the negative reviews. The nurses and front desk were great and the wait time was barely anything which was good. However, Dr. Hyman’s bedside manner is incredibly lacking. I was in for my annual appointment as a new patient and was asking about different birth control options. I have had negative experiences with different birth controls in the past so I wanted to talk to her about other options. She seemed annoyed by my questions and dismissive of what I was saying. She just keep saying okay try this and when I would say I did try that she would seem annoyed. Towards the end of the appointment she literally had one foot out the door with the door open as I was vying for her attention by asking more questions about my health. She just handed me a pamphlet and said “call us if you want a prescription for any of this.” I just left feeling really uncomfortable and like I was a nuisance. I’m now debating even calling the office again on Monday for my prescription.

The only good thing about this appointment was that the wait time wasn’t too long. I talked mostly with the nurses. When the doctor came in it was obvious she wanted to be done with me in no more than 30 seconds. She looked at me angrily when I tried to ask a question. Overall extremely impatient and unwelcoming. Would never go back.

Honestly I'm really disappointed by this office and the doctor. The appointment in general felt rushed and she was a bit cold, not really someone I'd want if I were pregnant.
The biggest reason for my 1 star is their complete lack of follow-through which is a shame because I thought the front desk people were so sweet.
I was highly encouraged to do a genetic test because my mom had breast cancer and I had other cancer history in my family on both breast and others. I was explicitly told that there was no risk because if I was a candidate, I would not pay anything at all and if I ever turned out to not be a candidate, Myriad would let me know the cost it would be and then I could choose to do it or not. Dr. Hyman kept telling me I would lose NOTHING.
Well my extensive family cancer history made me a candidate and so I accepted to do the genetic test. Again, they said if I got any bill whatsoever, Dr. Hyman's office would handle it and call Myriad directly for me
Long story short, I got a bill that told me that I owed money (it's always too good to be true isn't?). After calling the office so many times, I was told Gayle was the one to handle these issues but Gayle was never there when I would call.... Eventually I got a hold of her and she told me to email her the bill. After I did and she told me she would call Myriad, there was no follow through at all on the status of this bill. I had to email her asking about the status.
After several weeks, I get a warning bill that basically tells me it would go into collections if I didn't pay... so obviously the bill was not being handled. I emailed Gayle and never heard back from her. Had to call Myriad to deal with this issue myself and they were courteous enough (so far) to honor the promise I was explicitly told that I would not owe anything if I was a candidate.
Complete nightmare for one lousy genetic test....!!! And it would have ruined by excellent credit from them not handling things correctly.
All and all I will be going elsewhere ESPECIALLY the day that I am pregnant. I can't imagine the lack of follow through with THOSE bills, imagine?? That's all the stress you need when you are expecting....

Dr Hyman is fantastic! I had been looking for a new doctor in Hoboken, and I am so glad I found her. After signing in, I waited about 5-10 minutes in the waiting room, and then I was taken into the room where I was immediately taken care of. From the time I was brought to the room (temp/weight/height taken/undressed) to when the doctor came into the room for the exam, was maybe 10 minutes tops. I was in and out of there so fast, it was amazing. She's so personable and makes you feel comfortable. Thanks Dr Hyman!

The one positive thing I will say is that everyone else I interacted with was absolutely lovely (nurse and front desk staff). Outside of that, my experience was disappointing. I waited 25 minutes under a paper gown. The walls were so thin I could hear every bit of conversation in the room next to me while another patient was informed of a miscarriage. Felt like an extreme invasion of privacy and was extremely uncomfortable. Eventually a white noise machine was turned on, so clearly the office is aware this is an issue. Dr. Hyman was fine, but spent barely 7 minutes with me and asked very few questions. I was prescribed medication for one issue and then my lab results came back negative. I was never followed up with, nor notified that the results were in. I'm all for automating these processes with access to an app, but this shouldn't take the place of patient care. I'll be returning out of necessity since my symptoms are back, but would not recommend to others.

I am beyond disappointed in my first visit with Dr. Hyman. After reading many of the reviews here on Zoc Doc, I was excited to finally have a doctor that would help me figure out some of my concerns. My experience was horrendous. She was condescending and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. She does not remove implants but did not recommend another doctor and simply said to look it up myself. I saw her for no more than ten minutes before she walked out of the room without a goodbye or mention of any follow-up appointments for when I get the implant taken out. I received zero advice and little information about what is happening to my body. I am extremely disappointed and upset. I have never had this happen to me and wish I did not waste my time and money this morning. My time is equally as valuable as Dr. Hyman’s and I wish our appointment reflected that. HOWEVER, the nurses and staff are very nice and literally always answer the phones.

I went to Dr. Hyman last summer for the first time after switching jobs (hence new insurance). She was so great, bedside manner amazing. I went back this year and felt a turn in the overall experience, and looking at recent reviews it seems as if everyone else is also experiencing the same thing. In terms of the shift from my 2016 visit to my 2017 visit I had issues with the following:
-Work got busy in the fall so I postponed my visit to a few months later. Somehow, my birth control prescription kept getting filled, but it was to my benefit so I was not complaining.
-When I tried to finally reschedule, Dr. Hyman was not available for 4-5 weeks. She told me in my recent visit that she had personal issues she was dealing with and took the month of Nov. off.
-I finally got an appointment for mid Dec. and when I stopped by the office in early Dec to ask for 1 refill of my birth control or a sample, the receptionist talked to the medical assistant who said no, my last appointment was too far gone. I asked if I could speak to Dr. Hyman about the issue since it's not medically encouraged to just go on and off the pill, and I was told no, she's not available for 2 weeks. I accepted the answer and went on my way.
-Once I got to my appointment, the receptionists and nurses were GREAT. Barely a wait time. Dr. Hyman was noticeably off from a year before (much less pleasant) but we did our business quickly, which I can appreciate.
-However, my prescription was never re-filled as promised, and I had to call the office 2 days later and ask for an update. I was told by the receptionist to first call the pharmacy and make sure *they weren't holding the refill. I have automatic refill with text updates so I really didn't think that was the case, but agreed. After 2 hours when I finally got in touch with a pharmacist, they told me the dr's office indeed had not refilled my prescription. I called the office back and the receptionist was very apologetic and left a hand written note for the medical assistant who was not there.
-Overall, I will probably go back since the office is conveniently located and Dr. Hyman is the only female in this practice in the Hoboken location. I just wish my experience this year was closer to the one I had in 2016.

The 3 staff members I interacted with at Dr Hyman's office were all pleasant and professional.
After undressing for the examination I waited 22 minutes for the doctor to come in to see me. I found her bedside manner to be lacking. She referenced two other patient's charts during our very brief encounter (she was in the room with me for a total of 9 minutes) and mistook someone else's history for mine. She didn't address a particular concern that I brought up with both her and her MA.
I left feeling unheard and uncofident in the doctor's thoughtfulness or concern for her patients. Maybe she cares more for established patients, which is certainly understandable if there's a long history with them, however, I won't be back to find out. I genuinely felt sad after I left her office.

I saw her for barely 10 minutes and she showed up in a bad mood and had one foot out the door the whole time. She tried talking me out of getting my yearly pap (she clearly wasn't in the mood to deal with anything / anyone) and she forgot to do my breast exam. I had 3 very normal questions regarding heavy cramps, cervical cancer and fertility - she brushed everything off like "don't worry about it" or "just go on the pill" or "take some pamphlets". Everything she said was very dismissive. Clearly there is something bothering her at home that she should not bring into the workplace. Or maybe she is tired and overworked. I would never treat my own clients the way she made me feel, like a nuisance- how unprofessional. I will not be back.
