Best doc ever!
Dr. Polun is the best. I have been a patient of his since the early 1990's for the management of flat feet, plantar fasciitis, foot neuropathy, ingrown toenails, and the coup de gras -- I needed major foot and tendon surgery. I have nothing but the best things to say about Dr. P. and his staff, both in Potomac and Washington D.C. He is kind, very knowledgeable. He will take the time to explain what the problem is, what the treatment options are, point you to the medical literature if you want to do research. He cares deeply for his patients (I have spoken with other patients of his over the years) and the health of their feet and ankles. One note, and that is about office wait times. Some people get really upset because there are times when the wait times in his office are much longer than would be ideal. There is a simple reason for this ... despite the fact that his staff arranges patients between four examination/treatment rooms, and Dr. P. basically goes room-to-room providing diagnosis and treatment, often it is not possible to predict in advance how many patients will need the ultrasound, or the X-ray, of which there are one each. It is also impossible to guage how long will be needed with each patient. Somebody comes in for an ingrown toenail, and it turns out that (s)he has another significant problem that needs addressing. I also believe that Dr. P. tries to see as many patients as he possibly can ... not because he wants more money ... because he really cares about people and their foot health and his alternative would be to turn people away. So instead of having an appointment run longer than you wanted, you would not get to see him at all, or you would wait three weeks to get in. The other alternative is for Dr. P. to spend exactly 11.5 minutes with each patient per visit ... when your time is up, out you go, and you can schedule a follow-up. Some doctors do this ... Dr. P. will not. If your treatment requires extra time, or you have questions, you will get the full extent of his attention. My advice: allow yourself an hour, or an hour and a half of free time for your visit, even if it's a quick followup -- just in case there is a backup. Bring along a book, or your tablet/laptop, or something to do while you wait. If everything goes smoothly you will have some time to spare. Then, wait your turn -- the office staff is always fair, there are no favorites.
Dr Polun is warm and professional - careful to explain the problem and the alternatives so the patient can make an informed decision. His office staff is very responsive - which is important to me. I feel like I'm getting great care - very attentive and interested. Highly, highly recommend.
Dr. Polun had a great bedside manner, and immediately put me at ease about the procedure. He was quick, and everything was well explained and painless. Much appreciated, and will definitely return with any future issues.
Dr. Polun is great. Prompt, fast, and nice, I will definitely continue to see him for any foot related issues.
I was relieved that he was able to find the issue with my ankle that I've complained to many doctors about but couldn't find a cause for my pain!
Love Dr. Polun but the wait time was horrible today. We spent an hour in the waiting room and then another 15 min before we even saw the doctor.
I was a returning patient after approx two year absence. Unlike in the past, this time I felt rushed and left the office feeling dissatisfied with not all areas of concern having been addressed.
Dr. Polun is the consummate doctor. He exudes warmth, confidence, compassion and it is apparent that he is highly skilled and knowledgable. Dr. Polun was clear, honest and explained each step of a procedure. He put me at ease in preparation for a procedure. Many other doctors and caregivers could learn from Dr. Polun. Thank you, Dr. Polun.
I had to wait a long time and then he rushed me through without much discussion.
I took my 7 y.o daughter to see Dr. Polun for a deformed toenail (fungus) and concerns over the shape of her toes. To my surprise, she had hammertoe due to weak muscle tone and Dr. Polun did a great job of explaining it to me and providing a few ways to handle it including orthotics and PT. He has a gentle bedside manner and he took his time. He was very kind to my daughter as well. I would recommend him to others. His DC office is located right next to Rodmans on Wisconsin Ave in Friendships Heights. Easy street parking.
The wait was at least and hour and 30 minutes, too much! I asked the nurse if the doctor is always so backed up with appointments and she said yes.
Didn't have the need to see Dr. Polun for a while. It was easy to get an appointment and the wait time once there was better than expected. His personality is great, staff friendly and got to my problem with a great plan of action.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Polun to any of my friends or associates. And while I hope none of them has any foot ailments, if they do...I'll sing his praises.
The Doctor was very friendly, and interested in my well-being. He found a couple of potential problems I was not aware of and presented multiple solutions. Over all I was pleased with Dr. Polun's exam.
I'm an old patient. Love Dr. Polun and hisee staff.
I went to the DC office because the Potomac office showed no availability on ZocDoc; I later found out the Potomac office offers no online appointments, you have to call directly.
On time nice staff
It is difficult to discover that 3 others have a 10 am appointment and then wait for 55 minutes for the doctor.
He was very personable and very knowledgeable about my situation. Dr.Polun quickly developed a treatment plan and I am excited to see the results
Very professional and very kind. He made me feel very comfortable with my issue and the remedy.
Dr Polun was knowledgeable and dympathetic
Awesome appt. as usual!
Dr Polun showed genuine concern during my consultation session, listens as much as he talks if not more, explained both his diagnosis and treatment plan in a straightforward, transparent, and easily understood manner. The office staff was friendly, made me feel at ease, and treated everyone professionally. The waiting area had enough seats to accommodate about 9 people. It was a little crowded during my visit, but it was to be expected being the first week after the holidays. Still, I didn't have to wait unbearably long. Even if I did, I don't think I'd mind, because I see it as Dr Polun really spending time with his patients. As long as I get my fair share of his time, all is good.
Dr. Polun is great, clearly knows his stuff but the DC office runs so late. I have always had to wait 45 + minutes to be seen, sometime more than an hour. I know he is popular, but patients are busy too!
Dr Polun is excellent. Cares about his patients and very competent.
Knowledgeable; good bedside manner
Dr. Polun is the best! He takes the time to explain the situation, review the options, and help the patient determine their best course of treatment. His office is busy, but when it is my turn I never feel rushed. His office staff is excellent in both locations ... he has the same people he has had for years ... They know what they are doing and they do it well. Everyone in the office is kind and caring and it is always a pleasure to visit.
We scheduled early so my son could get to school. Wasn't happy with the 40 minute wait...but totally happy with Dr. Polun.
Great doc, great bedside manner. Starts with a 'less is better' approach to intervention (which I appreciated), and provided lots of info to substantiate his proposed treatment plan. Would absolutely recommend.
We love Dr. Polun but the wait time was way too long!
I saw Dr. Polun to address my plantar fasciitis. He took a conservative approach to resolve the problem, but responded to my concerns and needs. He was very professional, but also warm and approachable. He is very knowledgeable and imparts his knowledge willingly. I would recommend him to my friends and family.
Great experience. Dr.Polun clearly laid out my options for treatment and helped me choose the one that was the most appropriate for me.
I appreciated the doctor remembering me and going over my case with me by showing me his notes in my file.
Nice office staff. Imaging equipment on site - which, in my opinion, is important to a quick diagnosis. Doctor Polun is very knowledgeable. I had seen this doctor before, but because of the distance from my home, found another (doctor 2) closer to home for a new foot problem. Wasn't comfortable with diagnosis from (doctor 2) so came back to Dr. Polun for a 2nd opinion. After my description and a series of questions, Dr. Polun determined the problem (very different from doctor 2) and has been treating it since. I highly recommend Dr. Polun.
Great! He was a delight to meet and confidently knowledgable. What else could you ask for?
I was impressed at how efficient the doctor was. I had x-rays taken immediately and he met with me at length to discuss my complicated feet! I feel very comfortable with Dr. Polun and I know that in due time I will feel better.
I loved him from the moment I shook his hand! Great appointment! Awesome personality! I made sure to grab a few of his business cards on the way out so I could refer him! Highly recommend.
It was great - I always feel better after being treated by Dr. Polun. Dr. Polun explained the treatment he was implementing and the corrective future course of action for me to take. Couldn't ask for a more complete doctor!
Probably the best doctor I have ever seen. Incredibly knowledge, and extremely friendly.
I'm fixed and happy
Dr. Polun is very professional and knowledgeable. I am seeking second opinion on my daughter's foot pain. His gave a different diagnosis which was explained very well and made more sense. My concerns were solved.
Love him and would recommend him to any runer whose needs to get back on track.
Great. I was late and Dr Polun and his office staff were very professional and not upset with me. Was stressful getting there and I truly appreciated that.
Under no circumstances would I recommend this man, no matter what your complaint. Aside from his being dismissive, sarcastic, and offensive, he filled my file with documentation that belonged to another patient, neglected to take or return repeated phone calls from my physical therapist, who called for information useful in treating me, recommended a costly experimental treatment (which I agreed to) that was unsuccessful, then recommended the same treatment for my other ankle, which he had never looked at and which needed no attention at all. I went to a follow-up appointment, and he suggested trying the experimental treatment on my injured ankle a second time. I declined. When I received a summary of his findings to send to my primary doctor, I noticed his final notation: " Patient thinks she will benefit from a second [experimental treatment]."
Fantastic doctor, highly recommended
It was a good visit The administrative staff was a little organized and was not very helpful regarding follow up information with the doctor when it was time to check out.
Dr. Polun was 30 minutes late for my appointment (he wasn't even in the office) and he didn't apologize. Also, I'm kind of disappointed in his services because we agreed on PT for my ankle as opposed to a brace, and he went and had the brace made anyways.
I thought Dr. Polun was personable, straight-to-the-point, and really understood the patient (me). He not only provided consultation for future relief, but also tailored it to meet my needs as a trendy woman! I think he is an amazing podiatrist, knowledgeable, yet current and personable. I highly recommend Dr. Polun!
Competent, professional, friendly, to the point. If you have foot and ankle issues, see him!!
Dr. Polun was very personable. He laid out all of the potential treatments for me, citing advantages and disadvantages of each one.
Dr. Polun is a very personable and professional doctor. Thorough, helpful and caring.
Dr. Polun is efficient, direct, and informative. He explained what the issue was and what my options are. It was a great appointment!
Very professional, attentive and knowledgeable. One-Stop Shopping, meaning that I did not have to make multiple appointments for xrays and orthotic molds.
Dr Polun inspires much confidence! He is a true expert in his field and a really nice person too. Have already recommended him several times!
On my first visit to Dr. Polun's office, I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time, then another 15 minutes in the exam room before I saw the doctor...for 15 minutes. He seems competent, but he did use inappropriate language during the course of the exam. He also seems arrogant, but that's fine if he's capable. I just left the waiting room from my second scheduled appointment, two weeks after my first. Scheduled for a Monday at 9:30 AM, I was on time and signed in. By 10:20, no one had even acknowledged me. So I think I've had enough of this doctor's treatment. My condition is minor, and I'm sure there are other capable doctors who have their act together better. I'll walk, or even run, to them.
Very knowledgable and helpful. Excellent treatment of a variety of conditions for several family members for more than a dozen years.
Dr. Polun was great. He addressed my problem very well, discussed all the treatment options in details and encouraged me to go with the conservative one first. His bedside manner are excellent.
Hes a great doctor and very, very kind. He has a really good personality. Even when i saw him for realy bad foot pain, the appointment was kind of fun.
I thought the front staff could be better
Dr. Polun was great. My appointment was quick and painless and he answered all my questions.
He is simply fantastic. Great manner. Never impatient or dismissive. Answers concerns and helps with my foot pain!! I am glad to have found this doctor. His front desk lady is also very pleasant.
Very efficient and well managed office; Dr. is clearly highly knowledgeable of his field of practice and familiar with pretty much anything a patient may throw at him. Have recommended to two people without reservation.
I've seen Dr. Polun more than once and each time have felt rushed. I don't doubt he's a professional who knows what he's talking about but he sees multiple patients at the same time, and clearly he's trying to hurry things along. The wait time is usually about 30 minutes.
As on my previous visits, everything was excellent.
Worked out well. Doctor Polun was reassuring that the could fix my problem with little or no downtime.
Can't make a judgement or opinion with 1 half-hour appointment.
I would highly recommend Dr. Polun. He takes time with his patients and makes sure to answer any questions you may have. He has a sense of humor and genuinely cares about helping his patients and puts them at ease.
Seems like he loves his job. He was very excited to fix the problem! Staff was very nice as well.
It was a great visit overall. Even though I was late for my appointment, I didn't feel rushed and Dr. Franklin and his staff took great care of me. Dr. Franklin is the best doctor I have ever been too. He took his time and listened to my problem and said the right words about it. I would recommend him to everyone.
It was a good appt. Although, I never received the medicine for my strained toe and the wait was almost two hours.
Smart. Caring. Passionate. Cutting edge in his field and in the technology he offers. TOPS. He's the one to go to for feet and ankle issues.
Office people were friendly. The doctor (my first time seeing him) was very friendly, informative, listened to me, did not seem rushed but rather focused on helping me see options. I also think he is very competent based on how he spoke. I have not had any procedures done there yet, but I may in future. I will go back.
Dr. Polun really is one of the best medical professionals I've ever come across. Highly recommended!
Very good...no problems.
Very helpful so far.
As always Dr. Polun knows what it's like to be an athlete and treats me as one. He chooses the right procedures for me to become pain free and continue with my active lifestyle. He is one of the best medical professionals I've ever seen.
Great. Hope my neuromas heal fast and I like my new orthotics.
Doctor Polun is very friendly and attentive. He has always addressed any problems I've had by giving me options for treatment and along the quickest route to get me back on my feet! The only thing I have to complain about is that sometimes the wait in his office can be a little lengthy. However, he is a great doctor and I would recommend him.
He knows his stuff. Very thoughtful diagnostician. Thorough too --- employs whatever diagonostic tools are needed to make a judgment call. And CHEERFUL --- and when you're in pain, it's a blessing.
Excellent office staff, clean and neat office/exam room.
Had excellent experience. Knowledgeable doctor; well organized office.
Very impressed!! Left right away and was telling my mother who plans to make an appointme as wel. Very satisfied. Glad I was able to find him.
I found the staff to be very friendly, attentively caring and highly professional in caring out their individual specialized expertise skills. The atmosphere of the office was quite comfortable and inviting. The overall experience was the great bed-side manner accompany with old-school expertise tied in with modern day technology. Princing and Insurance was sufficient.
Excellent doctor. Very friendly and knowledgable
Dr. Polun, was excellent! I took my son in for one thing and found out my son was having other issues with his feet as well. Thank you so much Dr. Polun!
GREAT doctor. Always cheerful --- and most supportive, while maintaining his professionalism at all times. Wait times have been a problem, unfortunately --- sometimes as long as 1.5 hours. Still, I would highly recommend Dr. Polun. BIG TIME.
The woman at the desk had a bit of a bad attitude.
Thorough, personable and very knowledgeable.
Very capable doctor but the wait was over an hour and that was discouraging. Also I did not like the sales of products I could get cheaper online or from a pharmacy. Doctor should give options...you can buy it here or there or where ever......
Courteous friendly and efficient
EXCELLENT FIRST VISIT. HE'S SOMEWHAT TOUCHY/FEELY.
He's simply an excellent doctor- precise diagnosis, fantastic bedside manner and expert surgeon. I'm so grateful to have been Dr. Polun's patient. Highly highly recommend him!
It was excellent. I had never been to the office, and I got lost, was 1 hour late for my appointment. They were so nice helping me over the phone, and I was still seen, excellent, would recommend highly.
It was excellent as usual.
The staff was courteous and quick. The office, I'm told was recently remodeled and looked great! Dr. Poulin was kind, and took the time to explain my condition and all possible routes of treatment. He sent me off with info to read and review before making any decisions.
very helpful, thorough, and friendly. would definitely recommend.
Great doctor - excellent advice, nice, friendly, was patient and took time to explain everything to me. Office wait time was over an hour....grr.
Office is very well run; the staff from the receptionist to the assistants were friendly and efficient. Dr. Polun was warm and very reassuring about my condition and I liked his emphasis on self-help.
I felt like it was a rushed visit. Don't know if it was a consideration for me as a working patient or if that is the normal pace. I certainly got my diognosis and what to do next and pre booked for another appt.
Dr. Polun is absolutely wonderful. Great bedside manner! He provided me with a full action plan to resolve my problem. I would highly recommend his services.
Today was my first visit. I was very impressed with Dr. Polun. He had a great, friendly attitude and was very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
Excellent doctor, very knowledgeable and friendly
Dr. Polun was very patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. I would definitely return to him for follow-up visits. My only complaint is that, although I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment, I didn't actually see Dr. Polun until about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time.
Dr. Polun cured me- he is great.
Coolest doctor ever! Smart, informative, to the point, and fun to talk to. He provided all of the key information regarding the causes and solutions to my problem. I highly recommend Dr. Polun.
Was able to quickly assess my situation and offer me a plan of action to treat it. Very pleasant and professional demeanor.
Dr. Polun was great as usual, however the office did not have any record of my appointment. I had to show the text appointment reminder from ZocDoc on my mobile phone to prove I had an appointment. As a result I had to wait 50 minutes to be seen. Perhaps ZocDoc appointments were not synching correctly with their in-house system?
He quickly resolved my immediate problem. He prescribed an MRI to help assess a chronic problem. He offered a number of suggestions that might prevent future problems.
Dr. Polun is the best, especially if you're an athlete. He knows what it's like to be injured and want to get back out on the field and I appreciate all he's done for me!
