This was essentially a consultation for a bone spur. Appointment was on time and Dr. Polun spent a healthy amount of time with me discussing my condition and treatment options. I felt as thought he listened to my problem and wasintent on helping me fix them. I definitely going to continue care through him.

Dr. Polun is the best. I have been a patient of his since the early 1990's for the management of flat feet, plantar fasciitis, foot neuropathy, ingrown toenails, and the coup de gras -- I needed major foot and tendon surgery.I have nothing but the best things to say about Dr. P. and his staff, both in Potomac and Washington D.C. He is kind, very knowledgeable. He will take the time to explain what the problem is, what the treatment options are, point you to the medical literature if you want to do research. He cares deeply for his patients (I have spoken with other patients of his over the years) and the health of their feet and ankles. One note, and that is about office wait times. Some people get really upset because there are times when the wait times in his office are much longer than would be ideal. There is a simple reason for this ... despite the fact that his staff arranges patients between four examination/treatment rooms, and Dr. P. basically goes room-to-room providing diagnosis and treatment, often it is not possible to predict in advance how many patients will need the ultrasound, or the X-ray, of which there are one each. It is also impossible to guage how long will be needed with each patient. Somebody comes in for an ingrown toenail, and it turns out that (s)he has another significant problem that needs addressing. I also believe that Dr. P. tries to see as many patients as he possibly can ... not because he wants more money ... because he really cares about people and their foot health and his alternative would be to turn people away. So instead of having an appointment run longer than you wanted, you would not get to see him at all, or you would wait three weeks to get in. The other alternative is for Dr. P. to spend exactly 11.5 minutes with each patient per visit ... when your time is up, out you go, and you can schedule a follow-up. Some doctors do this ... Dr. P. will not. If your treatment requires extra time, or you have questions, you will get the full extent of his attention. My advice: allow yourself an hour, or an hour and a half of free time for your visit, even if it's a quick followup -- just in case there is a backup. Bring along a book, or your tablet/laptop, or something to do while you wait. If everything goes smoothly you will have some time to spare. Then, wait your turn -- the office staff is always fair, there are no favorites.

Dr Polun is warm and professional - careful to explain the problem and the alternatives so the patient can make an informed decision. His office staff is very responsive - which is important to me. I feel like I'm getting great care - very attentive and interested. Highly, highly recommend.

Under no circumstances would I recommend this man, no matter what your complaint. Aside from his being dismissive, sarcastic, and offensive, he filled my file with documentation that belonged to another patient, neglected to take or returnrepeated phone calls from my physical therapist, who called for information useful in treating me, recommended a costly experimental treatment (which I agreed to) that was unsuccessful, then recommended the same treatment for my other ankle, which he had never looked at and which needed no attention at all. I went to a follow-up appointment, and he suggested trying the experimental treatment on my injured ankle a second time. I declined. When I received a summary of his findings to send to my primary doctor, I noticed his final notation: " Patient thinks she will benefit from a second [experimental treatment]."

I took my 7 y.o daughter to see Dr. Polun for a deformed toenail (fungus) and concerns over the shape of her toes. To my surprise, she had hammertoe due to weak muscle tone and Dr. Polun did a great jobof explaining it to me and providing a few ways to handle it including orthotics and PT. He has a gentle bedside manner and he took his time. He was very kind to my daughter as well. I would recommend him to others. His DC office is located right next to Rodmans on Wisconsin Ave in Friendships Heights. Easy street parking.

Dr Polun showed genuine concern during my consultation session, listens as much as he talks if not more, explained both his diagnosis and treatment plan in a straightforward, transparent, and easily understood manner. The office staff wasfriendly, made me feel at ease, and treated everyone professionally. The waiting area had enough seats to accommodate about 9 people. It was a little crowded during my visit, but it was to be expected being the first week after the holidays. Still, I didn't have to wait unbearably long. Even if I did, I don't think I'd mind, because I see it as Dr Polun really spending time with his patients. As long as I get my fair share of his time, all is good.

Dr. Polun is the best! He takes the time to explain the situation, review the options, and help the patient determine their best course of treatment. His office is busy, but when it is my turn I never feel rushed. Hisoffice staff is excellent in both locations ... he has the same people he has had for years ... They know what they are doing and they do it well. Everyone in the office is kind and caring and it is always a pleasure to visit.

Nice office staff. Imaging equipment on site - which, in my opinion, is important to a quick diagnosis. Doctor Polun is very knowledgeable. I had seen this doctor before, but because of the distance from my home, found another (doctor 2)closer to home for a new foot problem. Wasn't comfortable with diagnosis from (doctor 2) so came back to Dr. Polun for a 2nd opinion. After my description and a series of questions, Dr. Polun determined the problem (very different from doctor 2) and has been treating it since. I highly recommend Dr. Polun.
