Dr. Garrett J. Kalmar, is an experienced podiatrist who provides dedicated care to his patients at Kalmar Family Podiatry in Huntington, New York. He is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Kalmar earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University and completed his residency at Roger Williams Medical Center. He also holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University.
Before returning home to join the team at Kalmar Family Podiatry, Dr. Kalmar worked as an associate in Columbus, Ohio, treating complex wounds in a revered wound care center and performing outpatient surgical procedures. Wherever he practices, he believes the best patient care comes from establishing a relationship by listening to his patients’ needs and involving them in their treatment plan while using his expertise in evidence-based approaches to guide them toward an effective solution.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Kalmar stays active in his field, having published in numerous medical journals and lectured at various podiatric conferences. He is also an active Podiatric Attending at Huntington Hospital, where he trains residents within the Podiatric Residency Program.

I’m going to say this as truthful as possible. When I first walked in, I was introduced by a lady… this lady. I forgot her name, was pretty passive aggressive, her question she asked was if I filled out my information on Healow? I was thinking while answering and was saying “I don’t….. “ and she cuts me off saying “You don’t know? You did it. You’re supposed to know” and I gave her a look because at that moment I was wondering who she was talking to… and therefore I CORRECTED her and responded with “Well I was going to say I don’t remember because it was over a week ago and I did it on Zocdoc” other then that. The other staff members were really sweet and not passive aggressive at all. The doctor was nice, had calming conversations because I never experienced this before. And the nurse was also very sweet and upbringing.

What a terrific experience! I found Dr. Kalmar on Zoc Doc, they take my insurance (which I easily confirmed on that website and made an appt for one week later) and from beginning to end it was a wonderful experience. The staff at the office were lovely and kind to everyone, the doctor listened to my situation (extreme heel pain), empathized with my discomfort, assured me that we have a great plan, and took care of the follow ups, including insoles, steroids and a PT script at a local place that I’ve heard great things about. As always, there’s nerves about going to an unfamiliar doctor and practice - and this experience could not have been more seamless and comforting. Thank you to Dr. Garrett Kalmar and all of the staff members working at the practice.
