What should a new client know about working with you?

"First, I want you to know that this is a partnership. You are the expert on your life, and I am the expert on mental health treatment—together, we make a great team. No Judgment: You can expect a completely non-judgmental space. You don’t need to filter yourself or worry about shocking me. I am here to listen to the hard stuff. Medication is a Tool, Not a Goal: If we discuss medication, it will always be a shared decision. I will explain the 'why' behind every recommendation—how it works, the side effects, and what to expect—so you feel informed, not pressured. It’s a Process: Healing isn’t always linear. Some sessions will feel heavy, and some will feel light. I ask for your patience and honesty so we can adjust your treatment plan as we go. You’re in Control: You set the pace. We will only dive as deep as you are ready to go."

What is your typical process for working with clients?

"To help you feel prepared, here is a look at how I typically structure our work together: Step 1: The Initial Consultation (The Foundation) What happens: This is our first meeting, usually lasting 60-90 minutes. Think of this as a deep-dive conversation. I will ask about your current concerns, medical history, family background, lifestyle (sleep, diet, stress), and past experiences with therapy or medication. The Goal: To understand you as a whole person and gather the information needed to form an accurate diagnostic impression. This is also your chance to ask me questions and see if I am the right fit for you. Step 2: Collaborative Treatment Planning What happens: After your initial evaluation, I will synthesize what I've learned and share my recommendations with you. This might include therapy referrals, lifestyle modifications, and/or medication. The Goal: To create a personalized, collaborative plan. We will discuss the risks and benefits of each option, and you will have the final say. If we decide to proceed with medication, I will explain exactly how it works and what to expect. Step 3: Active Treatment & Follow-Up What happens: We will schedule follow-up appointments (typically 20-30 minutes) to monitor your progress. These visits are for fine-tuning—adjusting medication dosages, discussing side effects, and tracking how you are feeling. The Goal: To stabilize your symptoms and ensure the treatment plan is working effectively and comfortably. Step 4: Ongoing Maintenance & Wellness What happens: Once you are feeling stable and meeting your goals, we will space out our appointments (e.g., every 1-3 months). These sessions focus on maintaining your wellness, preventing relapse, and managing life's ups and downs. The Goal: To provide long-term support while empowering you to manage your own mental health independently."
