About Dr. Gerardo Russo
Dr. Russo is a board-certified dermatologist and assistant clinical professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He brings a wealth of expertise and a commitment to advancing dermatologic care. At Mount Sinai, he dedicates his time to mentoring dermatology residents and contributing to developing the next generation of dermatologists.
Dr. Russo earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. After completing his internship at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, he joined the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as an investigator in clinical trials research for inflammatory skin conditions, where he later completed his dermatology residency. He played a crucial role in over 25 clinical trials investigating new biologic therapies for atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, hand eczema, keloids, lichen planopilaris, frontal fibrosing alopecia, centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, and alopecia areata. Many of these trials have led to FDA approval of some of the most advanced treatments available in dermatology today. With his extensive background, Dr. Russo remains at the forefront of both general and cosmetic dermatology, ensuring his patients benefit from the latest and most effective therapies. His expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of dermatologic concerns, including acne, melasma, skin cancer, hair loss disorders, and autoinflammatory skin diseases. He offers a comprehensive range of cosmetic treatments, including Botox, biostimulatory fillers, PRP, laser therapies, microneedling, microcoring, anti-aging chemical peels, and surgical and non-surgical fat loss reduction.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Dr. Russo is an avid traveler, always looking for new adventures. He is also a passionate animal lover, actively participating in sea turtle rescue efforts. When he’s not traveling, he enjoys spending time in Central Park with his dog
