About Dr. Gilberto Alvarez
A rare combination of dermatologist and internist, Dr. Alvarez treats both adult and pediatric patients. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where he also completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Dermatology. Dr. Alvarez graduated Magna Cum Laude and is a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He holds faculty appointments at both NYU and Mount Sinai Hospitals, where he teaches dermatology residents to diagnose and manage skin conditions. He has authored several articles published in peer-reviewed dermatology journals and has conducted extensive research into psoriasis and metabolic syndrome, rosacea, and cutaneous T-cell lymphomas.
Dr. Alvarez specializes in treating skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, contact dermatitis, urticaria, and itching. He also manages acne, rosacea, and sexually transmitted diseases. Additionally, he performs procedures for the removal of cysts and warts, including genital warts, verrucas, and plantar warts.
