Getting to know Gloria Laizer

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I am dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care across the lifespan. My clinical focus includes improving access to psychiatric services through telehealth, especially for underserved and remote populations. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment that empowers patients in their mental health journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (PMHNP-BC), my approach is patient-centered, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I believe that mental health care should be a collaborative process, and I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. During our sessions, you can expect me to take the time to understand your unique story, symptoms, and goals. I value open communication and will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include therapy, lifestyle support, and medication management when appropriate. My goal is not just to manage symptoms, but to support your overall well-being and help you thrive in your daily life. Whether you are seeking care for the first time or continuing your mental health journey, I am here to support you every step of the way—with professionalism, empathy, and respect.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with an initial comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where I take the time to understand your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, lifestyle, and goals for treatment. This session usually lasts about 45–60 minutes and is designed to build a strong therapeutic foundation. Based on this assessment, I collaborate with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. This may include medication management, brief supportive therapy, lifestyle recommendations, and coordination with other providers as needed. I believe in a holistic, person-centered approach—considering biological, psychological, and social factors that may impact your mental health. Follow-up appointments are typically 20–30 minutes and are focused on monitoring your progress, adjusting medications (if prescribed), and providing continued support. I emphasize open communication and shared decision-making throughout our work together. My goal is to help you feel better, function more effectively, and achieve long-term emotional well-being.
