Getting to know Grace Nwokike

Grace Nwokike, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed in New Jersey and New York and the founder of Frontier Behavioral Consult & Wellness. She has nearly 10 years of experience providing high-quality psychiatric care to adults. Grace specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, bipolar spectrum conditions, stress-related concerns, and insomnia. Her approach is patient-centered, supportive, collaborative, and evidence-based, with a strong focus on thoughtful medication management combined with supportive psychotherapy when appropriate. Grace provides telepsychiatry and in-person services for adults seeking treatment for anxiety, mood instability, emotional overwhelm, and related mental health concerns. She takes time to carefully evaluate each patient’s symptoms and develop an individualized treatment plan focused on long term stability and improved quality of life. New patients are required to complete intake forms within 24 hours of booking. Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $75 no-show fee.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting mental health treatment can sometimes feel overwhelming, so my goal is to make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible. You can expect a welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free environment where your concerns are taken seriously. I believe strongly in shared decision-making. Rather than simply prescribing a medication, I will discuss your symptoms, treatment options, potential benefits and risks, and answer your questions so that we can make treatment decisions together. Mental health treatment is not one-size-fits-all. Some patients may benefit from medication, while others may benefit from a combination of medication, therapy, lifestyle changes, and additional support. We will work together to develop a treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals. I also believe that communication and follow-up are important parts of successful treatment. As we work together, we will regularly review your progress, medication effectiveness, side effects, and any changes in your symptoms or circumstances.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. During this visit, we will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, medications, family history, lifestyle, and treatment goals. After the evaluation, we will discuss my clinical recommendations and develop an individualized treatment plan together. Depending on your needs, treatment may include medication management, supportive therapy, education, lifestyle recommendations, or coordination with your therapist or other healthcare providers. If medication is recommended, we will discuss what the medication is intended to treat, how to take it, common side effects, and what to expect as treatment progresses. Follow-up appointments focus on monitoring your symptoms, reviewing medication effectiveness and tolerability, discussing any new concerns, and adjusting treatment when necessary. My goal is to provide consistent, collaborative care while helping you make meaningful progress toward improved emotional health and daily functioning.

More information on payments and coverage

We accept a variety of major commercial insurance plans. Insurance eligibility and benefits are verified prior to your appointment whenever possible, and patients are informed of any expected copay, deductible, or other out-of-pocket responsibility. Payment is due at the time of service, and a valid payment method may be required to remain on file. Coverage and patient responsibility can vary based on your individual insurance plan, so we encourage patients to review their benefits directly with their insurance carrier as well. For patients who are uninsured or prefer not to use insurance, self-pay options are available. Our administrative team is also available to assist with general questions regarding insurance verification, billing, and payment expectations before your visit.

Grace is a great psychiatrist! I had switched from my previous psychiatrist because they were adamant on keeping me on the same meds. Grace listened to my concerns thoroughly and with her help I am finally comfortable!
She made me feel very comfortable during my appointment and took time to really listen to my concerns. Very nice, positive, and professional.
