What should a new client know about working with you?

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I focus on medication management through an evidence-based, person-centered approach designed to help you reach your strongest possible mental health. My treatment philosophy is rooted in collaboration and sincere respect. I believe you should be an active partner in your care, with a clear understanding of your diagnosis, treatment possibilities, and what to realistically anticipate from medications. In practice, this means thorough evaluations that look well beyond symptoms alone—we will discuss your broader life circumstances including sources of stress, relationships, physical wellness, and what you are hoping to achieve. It means intentional prescribing that accounts for your unique situation, medical history, and individual concerns. And it means consistent monitoring and transparent communication to confirm medications are performing as expected while addressing any side effects effectively. I also want you to know that I recognize the complete person, not merely a diagnosis. Mental health challenges can leave you feeling invisible or reduced to just your symptoms, but in our work together, you will be seen, heard, and valued as a whole individual. My promise is delivering care that is both clinically outstanding and provided with warmth, empathy, and genuine investment in your progress. Whether you are managing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or other psychiatric conditions, I offer specialized knowledge paired with personalized attention. I foster a safe, supportive, judgment-free environment where healing unfolds at your pace. Between visits, I stay accessible, ensuring you feel supported as we pursue sustainable wellness and renewed hope. I also partner seamlessly with your therapist and other healthcare providers to guarantee coordinated, comprehensive treatment. I am here to help you flourish, not simply get by. Together, we will find your path forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a thorough initial psychiatric evaluation, typically lasting 60 to 90 minutes. That first appointment is dedicated to understanding your complete story — your current symptoms, medical and psychiatric background, prior treatments, family history, life circumstances, and what you're hoping to achieve through care. I also conduct a detailed diagnostic assessment and risk evaluation to make sure I have a genuinely comprehensive understanding of everything you're experiencing before making any recommendations. Following the evaluation, we review your treatment options together. If medication is appropriate, I'll walk you through my clinical reasoning, explain anticipated benefits and potential side effects, and address any questions you have. I'm a strong believer in shared decision-making — you will never feel pressured into a plan that doesn't feel right for you, and nothing moves forward without your genuine agreement. Ongoing medication management appointments are typically 20 to 30 minutes. During these follow-up visits, I check in on how you've been feeling, assess your symptoms, address any concerns, and evaluate how well your current treatment is working. Based on your feedback and clinical presentation, we may adjust dosages, explore different medications, or maintain your existing regimen if it's delivering solid results. Every visit is an opportunity to refine and improve. While medication management is my primary focus, I also provide supportive counseling and psychoeducation throughout our sessions. I'll help you understand your diagnosis, how your medications work, and practical strategies for managing symptoms between visits. If ongoing talk therapy is something you'd like to pursue, I'm glad to collaborate with therapists and coordinate your care across providers. Throughout our work together, I follow evidence-based practices and hold myself to a high standard of care.
