Getting to know Gwendolyn Merchant
I am a double board-certified Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I have been working in health care since 2005. I have worked as a family nurse practitioner caring for at-risk, underserved patient populations in Pennsylvania. I graduated from Wilmington University with honors with my Family Nurse Practitioner in 2010. While working as an FNP, I saw there was a great need for mental health providers and this need had exponentially increased by the pandemic; this motivated me to go back to school after 11 years of practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner for my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license. I enrolled at Wilkes University and graduated with honors in 2022.
My goal is to provide quality psychiatric care in the most timely and efficient way. I aim to improve the lives of clients by delivering exceptional mental health care and to bring about mental health awareness by empowering clients with the education and services they need. I believe we cannot have complete wellness without taking care of our mental health. I believe in partnering with clients to help them have optimal health, which can be achieved by caring for the individual, mind, body, and spirit.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Treatment plan is individualized, clients are seen in a timely manner and are not rushed. Services are provided from the privacy of your home face to face or by phone. I believe in meeting the client where they are and building a partnership with the client.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
