Getting to know Dr. Heather Bohn

Are you interested in seeking therapy but feel scared and overwhelmed? Maybe your problems don’t seem big enough, or maybe they feel too big. You don’t know where to start. Life is stressful, and we are living in hard times. Sometimes we feel alone and like things are out of control, but I am here to help. It is totally normal to seek support. I can offer nonjudgmental support, strategies to help you cope and grow, short-term goals for growth, and flexibility tailored to your individual needs. Hi, I’m Heather. Nice to meet you. I am a Licensed Psychologist and certified School Psychologist. I earned my PhD in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University. I have worked in multiple states with children, adolescents, and adults in private practice, community mental health, residential treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, forensic settings, and schools. Currently, I work at a public elementary school during the day. Previously, I provided therapy and conducted evaluations at private practices and agencies in Connecticut and Pennsylvania. I have also worked with high-conflict parents involved in pre- and post-decree custody disputes in Domestic Relations Court in Ohio. I am in the process of pursuing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy certification and completed an American Psychological Association–accredited internship in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. I am skilled in making diagnoses and conducting evaluations. I offer a wide range of experience and a broad, flexible approach to treatment. I have worked with individuals aged 3 to over 60 with a variety of diagnoses, including Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Adjustment Disorders. I have also worked with people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is realistic and flexible to match my clients' needs. I am practical and goal-oriented. I can offer support to process difficult times, or I can give strategies and skills to help you deal with issues, as well as to make sense of the world around you. I usually help clients set small goals for the next session, and I understand that life can be difficult to manage. I can offer education to help you better understand your thoughts and feelings and concrete suggestions for growth. I want you to know that you are not alone, and sometimes issues we face are normal for the world we live in.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
