Getting to know Heather Thomas

I am a licensed marriage family therapist in Oregon, seeing clients via Telehealth. I work with individuals and couples and specialize in trauma, couples counseling, high conflict marriages and divorces and clients who struggle with emotion regulation, boundary setting and finding their voice. I am licensed in California and in Oregon.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am very person centered and solution focused therapist. I wish to give you unconditional positive regard and use psychodynamic, DBT, CBT, ACT, Gottman Method and schema therapies to help you process any past issues and trauma, work through relationship issues with your partner, aid in high conflict relationships and divorces by teaching you skills to navigate life with a toxic person. I have extensive background with BPD and DBT, trauma informed care and I strive to help you live your best life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session will look like checking in and processing anything that's come up since last session, delving into any past trauma or issues with trauma informed care and psychodynamic therapy, use of skill building and reviewing any homework suggested, examples of how to practice mindfulness, grounding and somatic exercises. Depending on your needs, we can use EMDR to get at any sticking points that are keeping you from feeling your best life.
