What should a new client know about working with you?

I am Helen Okundaye I am a very caring and passionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the Maryland metro area. My practice offers wide-ranging, evidence-based behavioral and mental healthcare to individuals seeking to enhance their mental well-being. For patient convenience, services are available via in-person and telehealth appointments. I see children starting at age 8 for medication management and will see children as young as 5 years old for evaluation and the beginning of psychotherapy. I handle a wide variety of behavioral health conditions, including Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Insomnia, PTSD, Schizophrenia, Eating Disorders, and other mental health issues. Every patient is recognized for their dignity and given the respect they deserve. I view healthcare as having the opportunity to try and lessen a patient's suffering by gathering the evidence for a thorough psychiatric assessment, diagnosing, prescribing the proper medications, and ongoing evaluation of their treatment effectiveness. After the intake, which encompasses psychopharmacologic care and psychotherapy, I continue with medication management and alter the treatment if necessary to instigate maximum results. My purpose is to give clients the power to make choices about their lives by increasing their awareness and understanding of behavioral health issues and how this impacts their overall mental wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Building a good therapeutic alliance with my clients is paramount to me. I listen well while creating an atmosphere where my clients feel comfortable expressing their problems. This allows me to formulate a diagnosis accurately and tailor treatment plans based on individual needs. Any proposed regimen may be modified to best suit the client's mental health requirements.

She always makes time for me and has bee very helpful
I never had my appointment because they didn't have a record of my appointment being scheduled. I scheduled an on-line appointment. However, I never received any login information so I tried to contact the office many times, but no one ever answered the phone. It kept sending me to voice mail. I left several messages, but no one ever called me back. I did some research and found another phone number for their office. When the lady answered and I explained to her that it was now the time for my appointment, but I didn't get the login information. She told me that I didn't have an appointment scheduled and that I could schedule an appointment with her. I had confirmation from Zocdoc that my appointment was scheduled. She didn't seem to care that I had been inconvenienced. I didn't appreciate that and I told her that I would find another doctor. I just didn't like how this all played out. No care or concern for my inconvenience.
