“Maiken is a fantastic dietitian. Before I started working with her I was following a rigid and restrictive meal plan recommended by a previous eating disorder dietitian. I never thought intuitive, flexible, and joyful eating could be a part of my life. Maiken gently introduced opportunities for more flexibility without overwhelming me. I've gotten to the point where I don't even think about that restrictive meal plan anymore and I'm much more in touch with my body. Maiken has a deep understanding of the harm of anti-fatness in healthcare and truly practices from a health at every size and fat positive perspective. She also has helped me with things like meal/snack timing and increasing protein to manage chronic illness symptoms without triggering my eating disorder. Above all, Maiken genuinely cares about her patients and is incredibly kind, thorough, and lovely to talk to. I highly recommend her!”

About Helena Maiken Wiese
Maiken Wiese is currently only scheduling short term as she will be away July 9th through September 15th. If you're interested in longer term care please book with one of my colleagues, Danielle Sommers or Nicole Ramirez. Maiken is a Registered Dietitian trained in medical nutrition therapy for numerous health conditions. She specializes in nutrition counseling for eating disorder recovery, as well as subclinical disordered eating. Nutrition therapy is about more than education! Through nutrition counseling you'll have the opportunity to hone goals specific to you. Nutrition counseling provides support and accountability to motivate yourself as you gradually build a better relationship with food and your body. Maiken has worked at various eating disorder treatment facilities, both in the inpatient setting and outpatient setting. She enjoys helping people laugh, honor their achievements and problem solve when the plan isn't working. She completed her Masters of Science in Nutrition at Hunter College and has worked in the day, evening and outpatient programs at The Renfrew Center of New York, BALANCE eating disorder clinic and as the East Coast Director of Nutrition for Eating Disorder Recovery Specialists.

Maiken is an amazing nutrition counselor. She is warm and very knowledgeable. She created a nutrition plan to meet my needs while encouraging me to get in touch with my body hunger and fullness cues. Maiken listens deeply and has helped me get in touch with the barriers to having a healthy relationship with food and my body while helping me with a plan for address the barriers while providing me invaluable support. I highly recommend Maiken.

Maiken is great! Extremely knowledgeable and nonjudgmental. Trans friendly, queer friendly, and fat friendly. The golden unicorn of dietitians.
She pushes me to step out of my comfort zone in regards to food without making me feel pressured or judged.
I really appreciate her science based, mental health informed, approach to nutrition. For once I do not feel like I know more about food science than my doctor.
