I was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, a product of District 186 schools and earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. I studied medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where I fell in love with family medicine: caring for people from all walks of life, through every season of it.
