What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal for every first visit is simple: I want you to leave feeling heard, informed, and confident about your next step. I don't rush evaluations, and I don't make assumptions before I've taken the time to understand your full story, your history, your life circumstances, and what you're hoping to get out of care. I bring a direct but compassionate style to every appointment. I will always give you an honest explanation of what I'm observing clinically, what I think is going on, and what your options are — including the pros and cons of medication versus other approaches. You will never leave an appointment wondering what just happened. A few things to know before your first visit: • Come prepared to share your mental health history and any prior medications or treatments • I welcome questions, the more you ask, the better I can tailor your care • I work closely with our therapy and support staff at K&I, so your care will be coordinated, not siloed • Follow-up appointments are structured and consistent, I don't disappear after the first visit If you've had frustrating experiences with psychiatric care in the past, I understand. My job is to do better.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every patient starts with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, typically 60 minutes. During this first visit, I gather a full picture: presenting concerns, psychiatric and medical history, family history, current medications, social history, and your personal goals for treatment. From there, I develop an individualized treatment plan. Depending on your needs, this may include medication management, a referral to one of K&I's licensed therapists, enrollment in a community support program, or a combination of approaches. Follow-up appointments are typically 30-45 minutes and are used to assess how you're responding to treatment, adjust medications if needed, and track your progress against your goals. I document changes carefully and keep your care team in the loop. I also practice collaborative care — meaning I communicate with your therapist, primary care provider, or other specialists when appropriate and with your consent. Mental health doesn't exist in isolation, and neither does your treatment at K&I. My approach is evidence-based, structured, and patient-driven. You set the goals, I help you build the plan to get there.
