About Dr. Irwin Hametz
Dr. Hametz opened his practice in 1978. After attending Yeshiva University and New York Medical College, he trained for two years at Long Island Jewish/Hillside Medical Center in pediatrics. From there he spent three years in the Dermatology training program at Brown University Affiliated hospitals, Providence RI.
Residents and students of the University of Medicine/Dentistry New Jersey have been taught by Dr. Hametz for over 25 years. He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the department of Dermatology and “Chief” of the dermatology section at CentraState Medical Center. Today, students visiting our practice can also learn from the experiences of Drs. Picascia and Miller.
Named among the “Best Doctors” for several years by the Castle/Connolly guide and New Jersey monthly magazine, Dr Hametz is in the office full-time. In addition, the scheduling of “overlap” periods with the other members of our practice allows us to frequently consult with each other for difficult dermatologic problems.

Dr Hametz was great as usual; the Schweiger back office/customer service was horrendous, as usual. I had an appointment for 7:10 AM. When i arrived they said my appointment was cancelled. (I never cancelled appt nor was i advised that Schweiger cancelled that appointment). I was told that Dr Hametz had a cancellation later that day that they could give me. At approximately 10:00 AM I got an email from Schweiger Dermatology asking for a review of my visit. So someone somewhere in Schweiger knew I had an early appointment. In addition I was told that someone always calls to verify my appointments (not true for all the years since Schweiger have I ever gotten a phone call to verify appointments). This isn't the first time that my experience with Schweiger's back office was terrible. Alice G
