Life is a journey, not a destination, and everyone has their unique story to share. I was drawn to primary care because it gives me the opportunity to see that story unfold for my patients. I get to see different chapters of my patients' lives and take on different roles during those chapters. Sometimes, patients will need me to be a friend or confidante; other times, I will act more as a teacher or an advocate. I especially enjoy it when I get to be a student, because often I can learn quite a bit and benefit from the insight of those I care for. So many factors contribute to health. Genetics, environment and our own experiences all combine to determine health outcomes. I want to learn as much as I can about each of those components from each of my patients. Listening to and understanding that information allows me to work with each person I see to achieve the best outcomes possible. Caring for families has been important to me for my entire life, as I come from a large family myself. We originate from Sierra Leone and The Gambia in West Africa, and we take pride in our family ties and our shared history. My husband and I see relatives whenever we can and love spending time with our nieces and nephews. We also enjoy watching "Game of Thrones" and "House of Dragons" together. When I get time to myself, I love cooking, exercising and gardening, and I recently picked up the hobby of making clay pots on a pottery wheel.
