Getting to know Dr. Israel Meth

As a compassionate, thoughtful, experienced psychologist, I am very interested in getting to know you and your struggles. I work with individuals, couples, families with adult members, and groups in many life stages, from late adolescence to older adulthood. My work is collaborative, starting with creating a safe, non-judgmental space in which you can feel increasingly comfortable and open to sharing with me your symptoms, experiences, behaviors and relationship patterns. I will endeavor to help you to understand and negotiate the external and internal obstacles preventing you from achieving contentment in your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work collaboratively to help you address symptoms that have become unmanageable (e.g., anxiety, depression, panic, compulsions), work through past traumatic experiences (e.g., violence, sexual, physical, and emotional abuse and neglect), and overcome self-defeating behaviors and relationship patterns (family, parenting, intimate connections, and work). I am empathic concerning your experience and see my role to be your confidante, someone you trust to provide productive feedback. I invite you to set up a time with me, so we can engage in a healing relationship that is challenging, fulfilling, delightful, moments that may be painful, but incredibly growthful, likely for both of us. Groups also available.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Sessions are variable depending on the presenting complaint. However, as an overview, therapy is a commitment to speaking one's thoughts and feelings as best as possible, describing problems, and life issues. I as your therapist will be active in listening and trying to understand, to help you access the underlying feelings related to the problems, and at times to arrive together at strategies to cope with the stress of those problems.
