“I've never tried therapy prior to this visit. It was productive and I felt comfortable opening up to her. We talked for awhile and she guided me beyond the surface level of "issues" I presented to her. We were able to determine a path forward and route of treatment. Coming from an immigrant family, it was great having someone that understood and related to my experience. I would highly recommend and look forward to future sessions! ”

Getting to know Itzuri Hurtado

I am a bilingual mental health therapist with more than 10 years of experience providing services in English and Spanish in Palo Alto, CA. Currently, I offer in-person therapy, online therapy, and community-based therapy. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). LMFTs have the education and training to provide therapeutic services to adults, children, teenagers, couples, and families. I have clinical experience working with both youth and adults. Working with youth requires more creativity and talent, and I feel gifted in my ability to connect emotionally with young ones. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy). I have extensive experience working with severe mental illness in both children and adults, as well as collaborating with families to create the ideal environment to overcome their challenges. My experience includes both inpatient and outpatient treatment. I have a substantial background working with anxiety, complex trauma, depression, family issues, autism, challenging behaviors, divorce, and relational problems. My passion is to support others in finding their inner strength and beginning the healing process. I strongly believe that all life experiences shape who we are and give us a unique identity. The meaning of life is unique for each person, and I focus on guiding clients to discover their full potential and overcome current and long-term struggles. I love nature and being surrounded by trees, water, and animals. I am a certified scuba diver and enjoy exploring the ocean world. I also enjoy traveling, getting to know other countries, and learning about different cultures, beliefs, traditions, and history. Spending time with family and friends is also very important to me.
