Getting to know Dr. Iyobosa Obasogie

At Evidential Therapy & Wellness, we provide compassionate, evidence-based, and holistic care to support your mind, body, and spirit. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide holistic, evidence-based treatment that focuses on the whole person—not just the diagnosis. My approach integrates advanced psychopharmacology with therapeutic methods such as CBT, mindfulness-informed care, and trauma-responsive interventions. This balanced model allows me to deliver personalized, outcomes-driven treatment that supports long-term healing and resilience. I work with adolescents, adults, and families experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar and psychotic disorders, ADHD, OCD, and complex trauma, as well as those navigating grief, loss, and major life transitions. My goal is not only to reduce symptoms but to help restore identity, meaning, and confidence. I am committed to reducing stigma, honoring cultural perspectives, and empowering clients to take an active role in their wellness. At Evidential Therapy & Wellness, mental health is a journey of growth, balance, and self-discovery—and I am here to walk that path with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in evidence-based care. I take the time to listen and understand your concerns so we can create a treatment plan that reflects your goals, values, and daily needs. My sessions are supportive, structured, and focused on helping you gain clarity, build coping skills, and make meaningful progress. I offer both therapy and medication management when appropriate, and I work at your pace to ensure you feel safe, informed, and empowered throughout your care. My priority is to meet you where you are and partner with you in your journey toward balance and lasting wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical session begins with understanding your concerns, symptoms, and goals, so I can get a clear picture of what you’re experiencing. During the initial visit, I complete a thorough psychiatric evaluation, review your history, discuss current challenges, and work with you to create a personalized treatment plan. Follow-up sessions often include talk therapy, supportive counseling, and practical strategies to help you manage your day-to-day needs. When appropriate, we will also review how medications are working, make adjustments if needed, and explore holistic approaches that support your overall well-being. Throughout the process, I maintain a collaborative, compassionate style—ensuring you feel heard, informed, and actively involved in your care.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Iyobosa Obasogie. I have never experienced a provider who makes me feel so seen as an individual. I booked her last appointment slot of the day, yet she listened intently and never made me feel rushed. She took a thorough history, asked questions, and validated my concerns. She showed so much empathy, interest, and dedication towards finding a plan that worked for me. I recently had an appointment to follow up about my new medication, and she was genuinely excited at how much it had helped. In the past, I’ve felt dismissed or talked down to by providers. I learned to lower my expectations when seeing a new Psychiatrist. Seeing Dr. Obasogie has been an incredibly healing experience, and I’m very thankful.

Dr. Obasogie is a God-sent Angel! I chose her on ZocDoc because of her exceptional reviews. None of the reviews, however, prepared me for the beyond exceptional experience that she provided! Words cannot express the comfort that I immediately felt speaking and sharing with her. She met me exactly where I was and worked with me from that point. She did not make me feel rushed, or if there was some sort of problem with me. There was no judgment, just professional care and treatment. Dr. O’s listening, empathizing, understanding, and care are not learned behaviors… they come from her heart. Through the years, I have been under several psychiatrist’s care but Dr. O is the only one where I felt this was her calling and passion. She truly has a heart to help others. Without a doubt, I highly recommend her to anyone who needs or has been considering working with a psychiatrist to better themselves. You will not be disappointed! -EM

I really enjoyed my first session with Dr. Obasogie! She was really personable, understanding, funny, and made me feel comfortable talking to her right off the bat. I even booked a last minute appointment, and nonetheless, she was very open to seeing me and talking through the things I have going on.
Dr. Obasogie was a very refreshing provider. As someone who has seen mental health providers before, she was the most relatable and seemed very interested to help me with the issues I am experiencing. Our first appointment was very straight to the point and she allowed me to open up without any judgement. Once she heard my concerns, she was able to make a plan that I was comfortable with trying. I look forward to more appointments with her!

Before I met Iyobosa I have had doctors be dismissive of my needs and concerns about my struggles, where they'd misdiagnose me because I didn't fit their perception of what ADHD was and is..often times giving me tools and advice that simply didn't work.
