Dr. Koch obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of South Alabama, obtained his medical degree at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, completed his Internship and Residency in General Psychiatry at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and completed his Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During his last year at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he served as Chief Fellow for the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Koch is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology both in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He has served as an Associate and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University, has served as the Assistant Residency Training Director for the Department of Psychiatry, and co-lead a year-long course in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and other impulse control disorders for the Vanderbilt Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellows. He was a founding member of the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee (E.D.C.T.) (now known as Renewed) and served as a board member for the first seven years of the organization’s existence. His areas of interest include Eating Disorders, ADHD, Mood Disorders, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Over the course of his career, Dr. Koch has provided care in almost every type of mental health environment, including a private outpatient office, at the inpatient hospitalization, emergency room consultations, juvenile detention centers (jails), youth detention centers (prisons), residential treatment centers for adolescents, adult jails, adult prisons, and independent medical necessity reviews and expert testimony. He is comfortable working with individuals experiencing loss and grief, struggles with lifestyles and careers, problems with sense of self and self-esteem, recurrent struggles finding/developing health and satisfying relationships.
