Jacquel Dean, APRN, RN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
CA
Hi, I’m Jacquel. If you’re here, life may feel heavier than it looks from the outside. Maybe you’re dealing with anxiety, burnout, difficulty focusing, depression, overwhelm, or you’re simply exhausted from trying to hold everything together while appearing “fine” to everyone else. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, lack of focus and life transitions. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and judgment-free. I believe mental health care should feel like a conversation with someone who genuinely listens and not a rushed appointment where you feel like just another patient. I understand firsthand how demanding life can be. Like many people, I’ve experienced periods of intense work-related stress, overwhelm, and the pressure of balancing multiple responsibilities while trying to maintain my own well-being. Those experiences helped shape my passion for mental health and deepened my understanding of what many of my patients face every day. Whether you’re struggling to focus, feeling stuck in anxiety, battling burnout, or simply looking for support during a difficult season of life, my goal is to create a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward. Together, we’ll create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, goals, and lifestyle because mental health care isn’t one-size-fits-all. I look forward to being part of your journey toward healing, balance, and growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe mental health care works best when you feel comfortable being yourself. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. Many of my patients come to me feeling overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, struggling with focus, or simply exhausted from trying to keep everything together. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship stress, or work-related burnout, we'll work together to understand what's contributing to your symptoms and develop a plan that feels realistic for your life. My approach is collaborative rather than one-size-fits-all. I take time to listen, ask questions, and understand the full picture before making treatment recommendations. While medication can be an important tool, I also believe in addressing lifestyle factors, stress management, coping skills, sleep, and overall wellness as part of treatment. As someone who understands the pressures of balancing work, family, responsibilities, and personal well-being, I strive to make appointments feel like a genuine conversation rather than a rushed checklist. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about your next steps. Whether this is your first experience seeking mental health treatment or you've worked with providers before, I'm honored to be part of your journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first appointment is focused on getting to know you and understanding the full picture of what has brought you to treatment. We will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, lifestyle, stressors, relationships, sleep, and goals for treatment. My goal is to understand not only what you're experiencing, but how it's impacting your daily life. Following a comprehensive evaluation, we'll work together to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, education, lifestyle recommendations, coping strategies, and referrals when appropriate. Follow-up appointments focus on monitoring progress, discussing challenges, adjusting treatment as needed, and helping you build practical tools to manage symptoms and improve overall well-being. While I provide medication management, I also incorporate supportive therapeutic techniques, psychoeducation, and solution-focused discussions into our sessions.
