About Dr. Jakub Tatka
Dr. Jakub Tatka is a Board-Certified orthopedic surgeon at White Plains Hospital who completed fellowships in Pelvis, Hip and Knee Reconstruction and Preservation. Dr. Tatka completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Stony Brook University Medical Center in Long Island, where he was elected and served as Chief Orthopedic Surgery Resident, overseeing the program of 25 orthopedic residents. While at Stony Brook, he developed a passion for being of service to those in need and has performed surgeries internationally through his pro-bono work in Nicaragua and Peru. Dr. Tatka completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Stony Brook University Medical Center in Long Island, where he was elected and served as Chief Orthopedic Surgery Resident, overseeing the program of 25 orthopedic residents. While at Stony Brook, he developed a passion for being of service to those in need and has performed surgeries internationally through his pro-bono work in Nicaragua and Peru. Each year, Dr. Joel Matta, regarded as the pioneer of the Anterior Approach to Hip Replacement surgery, chooses only one fellow amongst US and International applicants. After completing residency, Dr. Tatka was chosen to work alongside Dr. Matta at the world-renowned Steadman Clinic, in Vail, Colorado. Dr. Tatka credits this intensive fellowship with Dr. Matta as a truly formative experience in the elevation and specialization of his surgical skills. While at the Steadman Clinic, Dr. Tatka’s training was further augmented by other world-leading surgeons such as Dr. Marc Philippon and Dr. Raymond Kim. Following his fellowship in Colorado, he was selected to work under the auspices of Dr. Klaus Siebenrock and Dr. Moritz Tannast at Inselspital, University of Bern, Switzerland. This additional training in Switzerland was integral in his mastery of hip preservation techniques, allowing patients to gain increased function and eradicate pain without the need of a joint replacement.

Dr. Tatka performed hip surgery on me 2 years ago. That proved to be a great experience so when I started experiencing intense knee pain I was comfortable going directly to Dr. Tatka. As he did with my hip, knee options were explained clearly. All my questions were answered. Pros and cons of options were discussed. If surgery is in my future I feel comfortable with Dr. Tatka again being my go to surgeon.
