About Dr. James Andry
Dr. James Andry, founder, and medical director of the Sleep Therapy & Research Center is a lifelong resident of San Antonio and a graduate of Central Catholic High School. Dr. Andry obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Mary’s University. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio in 1982 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Affiliated Hospitals in Houston. He also completed fellowships in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. In 1988, Dr. Andry opened his office and practiced Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine with a special interest in Sleep disorders. He has been on staff at most of the San Antonio acute care hospitals. Dr. Andry is currently board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty certification in Sleep Medicine and now limits his practice to patients with sleep disorders. Dr. Andry’s sleep-related interests include more complicated aspects of Sleep Disordered Breathing including Treatment-Emergent Central Sleep Apnea, REM Behavior Disorder, and Narcolepsy. Dr. Andry has been the principal investigator of numerous clinical trials involving novel medications and devices.
Dr. Andry has held numerous medical directorships and chairmanships at local hospitals in pulmonary medicine, respiratory therapy, intensive care, and hyperbaric/wound care. He is currently a clinical faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Allied Health and Family Medicine. He has worked with faculty at the Dental School UTHSCSA in assisting in the development of their Dental Sleep Medicine Program. In addition, Dr. Andry is the founder and director of the Texas School of Sleep Medicine & Technology and was the charter president of the Texas Society of Sleep Professionals.
