He spoke to both our son and us as parents separately and together, explaining things is a way that was easy for all of us to understand, while making it obvious that he he was very knowledgable and confident in his methods and diagnosis. James Dusenbury is licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in New York State. Additionally, he holds a National Board Certification in Psychiatry from the ANCC.
James has over 15 years of experience in psychiatry. He has worked in both clinical and administrative roles at Bellevue and Mount Sinai Hospitals. He has also worked in the psychiatric emergency room at Coney Island Hospital. His ample experience, as well as a degree from Stony Brook University, qualifies James to treat a variety of illnesses.
James’ passion for treating children motivated him to complete a Child and Adolescent residency at Ohio University. He understands that treating children involves equipping parents or caregivers with the tools they need to understand their child’s illness and cope with it. Since every child does not have ADHD, a comprehensive psychiatric assessment must be performed to identify ADHD or other conditions.
In addition to his expertise and dedication, James has a heart. His patients describe him as funny, clever, and down-to-earth. Any medical professional can make a diagnosis, but not everyone can connect with patients. James’ commitment to build a relationship with his patients and to connect with them makes him stand out in the field of psychiatry
