About Dr. James Kim

His practice encompasses all aspects of general gastroenterology, with a particular interest in cancer screening and nutrition. Dr. Kim earned a Bachelor of Music with distinction in cello performance from the Eastman School of Music, after which he decided to transition from a career in music to medicine. He spent a year conducting translational research at the National Institutes of Health prior to enrolling at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Medicine. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at New York University Elaine A. and Kenneth G. Langone Medical Center and then finished a fellowship in gastroenterology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Kim has published peer-reviewed articles and presented original research at national meetings. For these efforts, he was awarded the Alan Charney Award for excellence in research during residency training. He is an attending physician at NYU Langone Health and an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
