About Jami Zimmerman

I am a New York City–based Registered Dietitian currently working in a NYC public hospital. I see patients daily from all around the world and love providing helpful nutrition recommendations tailored to each patient's culture and lifestyle. Early on, I saw how food impacts societies. Food is a foundation not only for health and wellness but also for celebration, connection, and happiness. I spent time studying abroad in Morocco at a kitchen whose mission was to employ women and provide both income and education in an area where women's education is typically hard to find. Shortly after, I flew to India to volunteer for an organization providing food and nutrition education to children in New Delhi. This experience inspired me to begin my journey to become a Registered Dietitian. I earned my Master's in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!). During my time at Chapel Hill, I also worked as a personal trainer and helped clients set and achieve their wellness goals. I then completed my clinical dietetic internship at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by a public health nutrition rotation auditing daycare center menus to ensure adherence to childhood nutrition guidelines at the New York State Department of Health.
