Meet Jana
Certified Nurse Midwife
Jana was born at home in Tucson, Arizona, and was drawn to birth from a young age. She grew up between Tucson and living in various countries globally. She completed an intensive training at a high-volume birth center on the border over 20 years ago. She is an RN with 8 years experience in a Level III NICU, and brings this skill with newborn assessment to her midwifery work. Jana obtained her Masters’ degree in nurse-midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in 2016, and worked at the Flagstaff Birth Center for 5 years. She has attended over 500 births in the home, birth center, and hospital setting and recently helped co-found the Flagstaff Birth Collective. She values connecting with clients and creating a safe space where they can have time to ask questions, be involved in their care, and share the decision-making process for their own bodies and births. Jana enjoys cooking and baking, yoga, travel, cross-cultural experiences, and cherishes time in nature. She is married to Bruce, a yoga teacher and artist, and they have a beautiful eleven year old son named Jai, who was born at home.

walking in felt like walking into a home, the decorations were so cute and such warm colors. all we did was sit and chat which was so nice because it was my first women’s doctor appt and i was nervous so i was thankful to establish trust first. she was quick to email me about things as well

I don't have enough nice things to say about Jana and the service she provides. She incorporates the perfect balance of holistic evidence-based care into her practice. In Jana's care, you will feel genuinely valued, heard, and respected with the confidence that she will absolutely ensure yours and baby's safety while honoring your birth plan. She is a badass, justoh so kind, genuinely cares about you and your family, and is an integral part of anyone's birth team.

Every visit I had with Jana was so thorough & I felt so cared for. All options with reasoning behind the choice was perfectly presented to me so I felt I made the right decisions for me, every time. Jana was so professional yet so warm & caring. I couldn't have asked for a better provider.

The support of Jana as our midwife was absolutely essential to our pre-natal, birth, and post-natal experiences. To have consistent care throughout our entire pregnancy not only provided us with the trust we needed to have a successful home birth, but also the confidence I needed to bring our baby earth-side. We were always met with kind, nurturing, and warm care, alongside a knowledge-base I don’t believe we would have received elsewhere. Jana is a huge part of our baby girl’s story, and now forever a part of our hearts. We would work with Jana a thousand times over again and highly recommend Jana for anyone hoping to have a safe, beautiful, and empowering home birth.
