What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me, you can expect a warm, collaborative, and judgment-free approach to mental health care. I believe you are the expert on your own experiences, and my role is to listen, understand what you are going through, and work alongside you to develop a treatment plan that fits your individual needs and goals. During your first visit, we will take time to discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, lifestyle, sleep, stressors, and what you hope to achieve through treatment. My approach combines evidence-based psychiatric care with shared decision-making and may include medication management, supportive therapy, patient education, and practical lifestyle recommendations when appropriate. I also consider how physical health and emotional well-being may be connected rather than focusing only on a diagnosis. I encourage questions and open communication, especially when discussing medications, potential side effects, treatment options, or concerns about your progress. My goal is for you to leave each visit feeling heard, informed, and actively involved in your care. Together, we will work toward improving your symptoms, strengthening your overall well-being, and helping you achieve a renewed state of mind.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first visit is focused on getting to know you and developing a clear understanding of your mental health needs. We will discuss your current symptoms, concerns, psychiatric and medical history, medications, sleep, lifestyle, stressors, relationships, and treatment goals. When appropriate, standardized screening tools may also be used to help guide the assessment and diagnostic process. Together, we will review potential diagnoses and discuss treatment options so you can make informed decisions about your care. Treatment may include medication management, supportive therapy, patient education, and lifestyle recommendations based on your individual needs. Follow-up visits focus on your progress, medication effectiveness and potential side effects, changes in symptoms, and any new concerns. Treatment plans are adjusted collaboratively as needed. My goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care while creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your treatment.
