“I really appreciated how my provider recognized my hesitation and nervousness about starting medication. They took the time to listen to my concerns and reassured me that we didn’t have to rush into anything. They explained that we could start with a low dose, see how I responded, and adjust from there based on what worked best for me. That approach made me feel heard, comfortable, and more confident about taking the next step.”

Getting to know Janet Mryan

I’m a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) providing compassionate, evidence-based care. My approach is grounded in Carl Rogers’ idea of unconditional positive regard, which means I offer a nonjudgmental, client-centered space where you are accepted as you are, and we work together from there toward your goals and a higher quality of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can feel heard, respected, and accepted without judgment. I believe that effective care starts with understanding you as a whole person—not simply focusing on a diagnosis or symptoms. When we work together, I’ll take the time to listen to your concerns, learn about your experiences and strengths, and understand what matters most to you. We’ll collaborate on a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs, preferences, and goals. Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, depression, mood changes, trauma, or a life transition, you can expect compassionate care, open communication, and a partnership built on trust.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with getting to know you as a whole person—your concerns, experiences, strengths, and goals. I take time to listen and understand what you’re going through before developing a personalized plan of care. Together, we’ll discuss treatment options and determine what approach feels most appropriate for you. Depending on your needs, treatment may include medication management, psychotherapy, or a combination of both. I use evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, and DBT to help you develop practical skills and navigate challenges.
