What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a compassionate, respectful, and collaborative approach to your mental health care. I believe that effective treatment begins with listening and understanding you as a whole person—not simply focusing on a diagnosis or symptoms. During your initial appointment, we will take time to discuss your concerns, symptoms, treatment history, goals, and any questions you may have. Together, we will develop an individualized treatment plan based on your needs and preferences. Treatment may include medication management, psychotherapy, lifestyle recommendations, or a combination of approaches when appropriate. I encourage patients to be open and honest about how they are feeling, including what is and is not working with their current treatment. Your feedback is an important part of the treatment process, and medication decisions are made collaboratively. My goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and comfortable throughout your care. Mental health treatment is a process, and meaningful improvement may take time. I am committed to supporting you with evidence-based care while working toward improved emotional well-being and quality of life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach begins with getting to know you and understanding what brings you to treatment. During the initial appointment, I conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, which includes discussing your current symptoms, mental health history, medications, medical history, lifestyle, and treatment goals. I also assess factors that may be contributing to your symptoms and work to develop an accurate diagnosis. Following the evaluation, we discuss treatment options together and create an individualized plan based on your needs, preferences, and goals. Treatment may include medication management, psychotherapy, or a combination of both. During follow-up visits, we review your progress, discuss any changes in symptoms, evaluate medication effectiveness and tolerability when applicable, and make adjustments to the treatment plan as needed. I encourage open communication and welcome your questions and feedback throughout the process. I also incorporate evidence-based psychotherapy approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, when appropriate. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative experience where you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your care.
