Janice Miyakawa, MD is a second generation Los Angelino. She started medical school intending to go into research intrigued by scientific exploration and the quest to find health solutions. Then, in the clinical rotations of medical school, she fell in love with caring for people, who she describes as endearing, challenging and constantly interesting. Dr. Miyakawa believes that people who are informed and actively participating in their health choices are more likely to succeed at staying healthy. She is trained in standard western medicine, but also respects other forms of healing arts that stand up to scientific inquiry. Like her parents before her, Dr. Miyakawa believes that education is fundamental. She is proud of her twins and their college achievements. Her most current interests outside of the office include sculling, ballroom dancing, swimming, piano, live music, gardening and tai chi.
