Getting to know Jartu Nylander
I, Jartu Nylander, am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a Master’s in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Walden University and a Bachelor’s degree from Coppin State University. As a firm believer in doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, I take an empathetic approach, treating my patients as I would want my own family to be treated by any healthcare provider. My goal is to transcend the standard of care in mental health by providing respect, kindness, and evidence-based treatment—all while offering the solace and guidance my patients deserve. I often say, "Sometimes I inspire my patients, but most of the time they inspire me and teach me." Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to church, reading my Bible, shopping, watching a good movie, and going for walks when time permits.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach is to provide patient-centered care while getting them back on track to become their best and healthiest version of themselves. We will collaborate to establish effective communication to help reach a realistic treatment plan.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
The initial intake entails getting a Comprehensive Psychiatric evaluation which usually takes 60min for adults and adolescents 90 minutes. The next sessions are followed up with medication management, which are about 20 minutes ,and discussing ongoing assessment of medication efficacy and tolerance . Additionally, I provide supportive therapy and offer pharmacogenetic testing.
I provide treatment for the following conditions: Depressions, Anxiety , Bipolar, Schizophrenia, ADHD, Eating disorder, Psychosis, Insomnia, OCD
