Dr. Jasmine Ross, PhD

Psychologist
12930 Dairy Ashford Rd, Ste 103, Sugar Land, TX
My personal and professional experiences have taught me that people are largely defined by their experiences of connection to others. I believe that relationships can be the source from where psychological distress can arise and can be resolved. Given these beliefs, I have come to take a theoretical approach that incorporates theory and techniques from multiple approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, systems, multicultural, and feminist theories, and selectively combine them into an existing conceptual model, interpersonal process theory. Using this approach, the relationship serves as the foundation on which to address behaviors, thoughts, feelings, and interpersonal patterns that impede effective functioning. With a respected tenure that spans over a decade, Dr. Ross's expertise in the psychological well-being of women is both extensive and profound. Holding a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston, she has dedicated her career to understanding and addressing the mental health needs specific to women at various stages of life. Her clinical approach is deeply rooted in interpersonal process therapy, where the therapeutic relationship itself serves as a catalyst for change, allowing clients to explore and transform their interactions within and outside of therapy. Dr. Ross's expertise extends to the integration of multicultural and feminist theories into her practice. She recognizes the diverse experiences of women across different cultures and the impact of gender on mental health. Her therapy sessions are enriched by these perspectives, ensuring that each woman's individual story is heard, validated, and respected within its cultural context. As Dr. Jasmine Ross forges ahead under her new name, she carries with her the legacy of Dr. Jasmine Burton-a legacy built on trust, understanding, and a deep commitment to women's mental health.
