? this was my first psychiatric exam, and I was really nervous. but Dr. Young was able to make me feel like I was being heard and she was a great listener and she was able to give me an accurate diagnosis. ?I’ve been struggling for years to find out what’s wrong and why I feel this way. As I was discussing my mental health history, I felt dismissed when the provider cut me off and wanted to immediately refer me to a therapist when I wanted medication from a psychiatrist. I was already seeing a therapist, but was looking to transition to another one and was explaining that. I had to interrupt her to correct her before she disconnected. After this I started having a panic attack. She helped me calm down with breathing techniques and then she finished my history and started me on medication. She was pleasant the rest of the visit so I would see her again.

I am happy to have spoken with someone so compassionate and grateful that my feelings did not fall on deaf ears.
