About Dr. Jason Shackelford
Dr. Jason Shackelford is a native of West Chester, PA. He graduated from West Chest East High School in 1991. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Duke University in 1995.
After college, he worked as a research assistant (or scientist) at Bayer Corporation in Clayton and Raleigh, North Carolina and at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in Philadelphia, PA. In the latter position, he published original research in peer-reviewed scientific journals. While at CHOP, he met his future wife, Michelle, and decided to become a medical doctor to directly help patients with their medical problems. He attended Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA from 2002-2006. During that time, he and Michelle were married. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Shackelford spent 3 years in residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA from 2006-2009. During that time, Michelle and Jason were blessed with two of their three daughters.
In 2009, they moved back across the state and settled in Warrington, PA, where their third daughter was born. Dr. Shackelford was initially board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in 2009. He went on to practice both inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine for 12 years at a well-known hospital in Pennsylvania. He successfully renewed his ABIM certification in 2019 and continues to participate in Maintenance of Certification for ABIM. Now Dr. Shackelford is starting Advocare Chalfont Internal Medicine to continue his mission of directly helping patients with their medical problems.
In his free time, Dr. Shackelford enjoys spending time with Michelle, their 3 daughters, and 2 dogs. He is an active member of his church and volunteers in the café regularly. He also enjoys the outdoors and working in the yard at home.
