What should a new client know about working with you?

As a new client, it's important that you know that the values guiding the therapeutic goals and direction will be your own. I strive to create an inclusive and affirming environment where people can feel safe to be themselves, whether that’s overcoming grief or moving toward new accomplishments in life. My style of therapy is solution-focused and person-centered. This means that while I ask a million questions, none of them have wrong answers. I’m not concerned about the “right” or “wrong” solution, but rather, the solution that works for you. I believe you are capable of overcoming your problems, even if you haven’t yet, and even if you’re not sure you can. I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment where you can feel comfortable and empowered to make change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is centered on the person and their best hopes. We will use those ideas - along with our curiosity - to find the right solution for each problem.

More information on payments and coverage

A deposit is required to reserve your initial appointment with one of our therapists. The deposit is equal to the cost of your first session and will be applied to that session automatically once the session has been completed. However, as per our general financial policy, if you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, this deposit can be refunded back to you upon request or applied to your first session if you reschedule. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment or no show, this deposit will not be refunded or applied to future sessions. Our clinicians’ time is important to us and to others who are hoping to utilize the open slots on their schedules, so we do ask that you notify us as soon as you know you won’t be able to make it so we can make that slot open to others who are in need of therapeutic assistance. Payment in full is expected at the time of service. Our fee structure is based on an hourly rate. If sessions lasting longer than an hour are scheduled or occur, the fee will be prorated at the same hourly rate. Will I Be Reimbursed for Out-Of-Network Therapy? In most cases, yes. Stanford Couples Counseling is happy to offer a superbill upon request which you may be able to file with your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement. This means you will need to pay your therapist for the entire session when you receive their services, but your insurance company may be able to send you a check to reimburse a portion of the cost once you file an out-of-network reimbursement claim. **Please contact your insurance provider to check whether you qualify for out-of-network reimbursement benefits**
